Katy Perry Goes Extraterrestrial on American Idol

With an assist from Kanye West, Katy Perry brought her futuristic new single "E.T." to American Idol last night - skin-tight LED-laden bodysuit and all.

Performing her new hit song, the singer warbled her way through the pop song as she was surrounded by dancers dressed in alien-inspired costumes.

Much like the "E.T." music video, Katy embodied the outer-space theme, carried onto the stage by her alien dance troupe at the start of the song.

The studio audience, who also saw David Cook perform last night, was surprised to see West joining Katy on stage for his verse. Here's their duet:

    Most of the talent that is on American Idol that is not the contestants is terrible. *I have no idea what this song is about and Katy was miserable. That's just my opionion.

    I'm totally team Katy & Kanye Katy compared to Lady Gaga (who's said to have inspired her, I don't know) shows a level of integrity and professionality that Gaga has been seriously lacking these days, what with her admission to taking drugs, super sexual photo shoots and repeatedly stumbling on stage. I'm also proud of Kanye he seems to have learnt his lesson about letting others shine as well and just doing his job and being a professional about it. He's super sexy and talented and he's wise to stay away from that negativity.

    I thought Katie was a decent vocalist -- but this song is SO BAD! Although I think it's topping the charts; so makes me wonder if maybe I just have no taste in music.
