Jacob Lusk: The Man in the Mirror

by at .

Jacob Lusk was initially going to run with Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" on American Idol this week, but he decided to go with an alternate, less racy song:

Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror."

Before leading off last night's performances, he said that if he ends up in the Bottom Three, it's 'cause America wasn't ready to look themselves in the mirror.

Bold statement, but after his rendition of MJ's moving classic, he may just escape that fate. Not knock-your-socks-off stuff, but pretty solid, don't you think?

He's finally gone. I laughed that everyone was rooting for Lauren... this gay gets on my nerves--not because he's gay or nerdy... BUT because things that come out are not the nicest or sincerest of things and his actions are always about himself, and his image. I find him irritating to watch he was alright at first, but went downhill. and I'm not the only one who thinks so. All the girls in the dorm were cheering after Ryan said Jacob would be the one leaving, but I know for sure 2 of our girls absolutely hate him... They all were routing for Lauren to stay.

I don't think Jacob is arrogant at all. In fact. I think he's kind of nerdy, naive, and a little socially awkward and inarticulate --- except when he sings. When he's on stage he "loses" himself in the song. That's why he picks songs with meaning to him. I think his comment just means we should all look in the mirror. He's only 23!

I was so certain they were going to boot him for that supercilious comment. First time I saw it, my head went: "What?" What did SOME Americans do that was so bad that he has to address ALL Americans--Including the ones that support him--on television? I've heard a person call it a challenge. As in: "Hey! I dare you to boot me!" But I digress. All I can say for certain is that he's not going to be the last one standing.

Jacob is a very talented singer, and has an amazing voice. I think his comment was his opinion, he is probably right unfortunately it's bad timing AMERICAN IDOL voters simply can't relate due to their own standing. Same reason why they got scared when Cassey sang, Nirvana. Don't get me wrong, all of the others have wonderful voices, I'm a die hard Paul fan but I know it's a singing competion. Take a look at what we have left...what are we gonna pick at next?
