Demi Lovato Admits: I Have Bipolar Disorder

by at . Comments

Demi Lovato is continuing to open up about her recent stint in rehab and the basis for her stay there.

First, the singer/actress admitted she's battled an eating disorder for years, later adding that she's cut herself since the age of 11 and is leaving Sonny with a Chance to battle these demons.

Now, the 18-year is opening up again to the public, making an admission to People: "I never found out until I went into treatment that I was bipolar," she tells the magazine. "There were times when I was so manic, I was writing seven songs in one night and I'd be up until 5:30 in the morning."

Last week, Catherine Zeta-Jones sought professional help for the same disease, as Demi Tweeted her support of that star. She says she's taking positive steps in her life to turn things around.

"I feel like I am in control now where my whole life I wasn't in control... What's important for me now is to help others."

Team-me

@Diaper Sweat: Hey. I'm a huge fan of your work. Please keep it up, I'm loving this.

@Diaper Sweat: Your immaturity and ignorance is astonishing. You assume that if a person calls you out for your shitty comments then their automatically obese? LOL. I'm not even close to obese, Little Boy. But just because I'm slim doesn't mean I think it's ok to put people who aren't down. Is that all you can do to defend yourself? Assume that a person you've never seen before is obese? How pathetic. You're a perfect example of why parents really need to watch what their naive little children are doing on the internet.

@Diaper sweat: yea because the idiot who's name belongs on a toddlers ass doesnt have any self-esteem issues..... I find that hard to believe.

@ Mel: I'm a troll and "nobody sees it?" What kind of illiterate ghetto ebonics are you using anyway? You sound like a fucking idiot.

@ Tammi and Nancy: It's very obvious that I've struck a nerve with the fat women bloggers. I would actually expect you all to stick together like chubby cows grazing in a field. It's very common for people suffering from low self-esteem and obesity to stick together and fight for someone like Demi Lovato who's crashed and hit the wall at the ripe young age of 18. There's a reason why Hollywood has such little empathy and respect for fat women. We cannot let you all in the club with your whining and self-pity. Aside from that, nobody wants burnt grease from that bucket of fried chicken that you're holding to be dripped all over their casting couch. Here's my advice to you: stop stuffing yourself like a little hoggy piglet, get some exercise, take some sheers to your granny-panty bush that is undoubtedly out of control and stinky, and stop whining like a little titty baby about your depression problems and how the world is out to get you. Seriously, you look pathetic and ridiculous.

Diaper sweat, you are such a troll and nobody sees it. Awesome.

@diaper sweat u r cruel n i guess it goes back to ur upbringing. how can u speak badly about a person u dont knw..? be realistic if u cant show empathy dont make it look worse... demi is working 2wrds her progresss n her fans r listenin to her if u dont wannaknw abt it stop reading abt her n go to a shrine urslf... i diagnose u hav behaioural disorder with manic symptoms!! do u torture animals as well?

At least she IS speaking out! Mary-Kate Olsen never spoke out about her eating disorder or her cutting & kids as young as 8 started copying her trying to get skinny as her saying "I want to be skinny like Mary-Kate." or "Im not eating because Mary-Kate wont eat!" Demi is setting a good example by telling kids NOT to follow her example & to reach out ask for help.

@ Blaize. Oh, let me guess, you and Demi are cut from the same fabric. You spend most of your time feeling sorry for yourself; rather than go to the gym for exercise, you lay around like a lazy slob, cramming your pie hole with chips and cookies, sobbing because you have fat thighs. Of course your peers make fun of you -- YOU HAVE FAT THIGHS! And finally, when everyone gets sick of listening to your fucking whining and belly-aching about how the world has it in for you, you take yet another drastic step and drag a razor across your flesh, hoping it'll generate another higher level of attention. These are just the bitter facts: You will feel so much better about yourself if you'd just scrape your fat, lazy ass off of the couch, turn off those re-runs of "The Hills" that we all know you've watched over and over and over again, get some fresh air for a change, and go exercise those chubby thighs of yours. That's what your shrink won't tell you, because it'll put them out of a job, see.

@Diaper Sweat: If you knew anything about bipolar or depression then you'd know that it is VERY possible for someone who has it to also be a cutter and have an eating disorder. It's good that Demi is speaking out, she's kept all of this locked up inside of her for years and now it's coming out. This is a serious problem, not something to made fun of. You obviously know nothing about this and you're just here to be a douche bag. Why don't you just STFU and make the world a better place?
