American Idol Power Rankings: James' Game to Lose?

by at . Comments

The Voice premiere was fun, but it's back to business on Fox tonight.

With the top six on tap to perform tonight, THG's American Idol Power Rankings break down who we like this week and who we think is likely to go home.

Of course, who we think leads and lags means little in the end (we called Stefano, but that was easy), but it's fun to try our hand at predicting the show.

Take a look at how we size up the field and see if you agree:

Heating Up Idol

Can anyone match the fire of James Durbin?

1. James Durbin. Week in and week out he strikes us as the best. Then again, so did Adam Lambert, and he lost the title in a shocker. So no guarantees.

2. Lauren Alaina. The anti-girl bias is working hard against her, but she's shown no signs of fading and giving fans a reason to kick her out. Thus far.

3. Scotty McCreery. Falls from #1 in last week's rankings after a mediocre effort. But he's still got the chops, and more importantly, the female votes.

4. Casey Abrams. A step above Haley and Jacob, but a small-ish step.

5. Haley Reinhart. Four times in the bottom three so far in the finals for Hails. The only other one who can claim that is ... Stefano Langone. Bad sign.

6. Jacob Lusk. Living on borrowed time for a while now. The only question is whether the producers sabotage him again. Just kidding. Mostly.

How do you size up the competition? Leave a comment and tell us!

I do not think that any of the contestants are really true singers like the ones in the past. All they do is scream and holler!! I am not pleased with any of them because I am not into country or heavy metal. What has happened to the "true" solid voices. Why do they sing other peoples song and make them sound horrible, if you can not do it any better then leave it along because it's already been done better. I am totally disappointed with this year's show. The only person that I can stand to listen to for a little while is Jacob because he does have a "pure" voice and does not sound "flat" and out of tune. No one does have a range like he does and isn"t that what singing is all about!

Please don't compare James Durbin to Adam Lambert. James is good, but he is no Adam Lambert.

I love Scotty, but tonight James blew me away. They are my two favorites.

I know it took haley a few weeks to find herself but her voice is beautiful and she has amazing control she just needs to connect with the audience more there is just something missing. I think she is seriously underestimated though.

I have been crippled for 21 years, and am 59 years young.
James makes me get up on one leg and dance my old butt off ...
least one leg works, hips and whatever his music stirs in me.
He has me dancing again...God bless him. I pray he wins and has a long fun career. James has music in his soul and God given talent that he has put to Good use with lottsa' hard work.
He deserves it all.

Tonight final 6 had one performer...James. Itunes gets my $$ tonight. I will buy his version from tonight. Awesome Baby!!

I just find it strange that is diagnosed as Autistic. If he is collecting Social Security Disability for that condition something is wrong. I think is is misdiagnosed. Any child diagnosed as Autistic is automatically registered for SSDI and that continues as an adult.
Anyway, I never vote for him as I don't care for singers who like to scream the words.

i think james will win, he has a great voice. jacob, hailey and casey need to go.

I totally agree with you. James should win this. He is a great performer. He is anything but boring! Love this guy! I have since day one and he never disappoints, not since day 1. I was very disappointed when Adam lost. Even Chris said Adam deserved it. Let's hope this does not happen again. James deserves to win!

James Durbin is a humble, compassionate, genuine, brilliant, amazing artist and person. Please do not mistake exuberance, uninhibited enthusiasm and being in the present for arrogance.
He exudes warmth, love for his audience, passion & generosity of spirit; this is very rare and the mark of a great entertainer.

Brooke White's tears come from the authentic, good soul that she is. Her heart was breaking because she was overwhelmed with the experience she had with the show and the gift that it brought.

I read some of this online this morning and just for the record, the rumors — they’re not true. She’s part of our family and we love her.
