Matt Damon: Disappointed in Barack Obama

by at . Comments

With one word, Barack Obama lost the enthusiastic support of one of his most famous supporters last night.

Asked by Piers Morgan if he's happy with the way Obama has been running the country,"Matt Damon simply replied: "No." He then elaborated:

"I really think he misinterpreted his mandate. I no longer hope for audacity."

The Adjustment Bureau star cited education as one area in which he believes the President has failed.

"The idea that we're testing kids and we're tying teachers salaries to how kids are performing on tests, that kind of mechanized thinking has nothing to do with higher order. We're training them, not teaching them."

In 2008, Damon often appeared at fundraisers for the Democratic candidate and hit the campaign trail on Obama's behalf. Watch him criticize the Commander-in-Chief in the following video:

I am truly perplexed at the manner with which our commander and chief has been microscopically examined and evaluated. Given the hand he was dealt, I feel that has done an immeasurably competent and productive job for our country.
It is so very easy for us to critically belittle his accomplishments and visionary goals for our future. Sadly I believe the ever present yet covertly implemented "race card" has played a large role in some of our conclusions. You can keep your head in the sand if you'd like but this issue still exists in 21st century America. It's really that simple and until some real self evaluation is applied, very little unifiable thoughts, accomplishments or conclusions will have a chance to flourish..... Gary M. Kelly

I am a fan of Matt Damon's work as an artist and he seems like a bright guy but he said himself in the interview that he realizes what a tough job the Presidency is. That being said, it's almost
naive to think that ANY President can do exactly what he set out to do.We rarely get everything we want in a leader, and to dismiss the things President Obama has done because compromises had to be made is childish.Being a little more blunt:He's getting paid well to entertain us so he should focus on that because his political opinions whether pro or con are just that.....opinions even if his Mom is an educator and pity the person who bases their political beliefs on anything Matt Damon or any other public figure has to say.So!....entertain me! Than go home.

I can imagine that he has lost a lot of support whether they are famous or not. Obama's decision have impacted us all.
