Natalie Munroe, Pennsylvania English Teacher, Suspended For Trashing Students on Blog

by at . Comments

Natalie Munroe, a high school English teacher in Pennsylvania's Central Bucks School District, has been suspended for going off on students in her blog.

After her school found out Munroe was writing blog posts about her students for her friends and family to enjoy, she was quickly suspended without pay.

"I don't think I did anything wrong," she said on Good Morning America.

Some of her best lines, which could easily be Sue Sylvester quotes if coupled with the Glee character's penchant for bullying, include these gems:

  • "Although academically okay, your child has no other redeeming qualities."
  • "I didn't realize one person could have this many problems."
  • "There's no other way to say this, I hate your kid."
  • "A complete and utter jerk in all ways."
  • "I hear the trash company is hiring."

Her posts also reference "out of contol," "rude, lazy, disengaged whiners," and "rat-like," "frightfully dim" students who dress like "streetwalkers."

More details and a video interview with Munroe after the jump ...

The school superintendent says her behavior was "very egregious" and "certainly could result in termination." Her blog is now being investigated.

Asked if it ever crossed her mind that someone would find this, Munroe said, "No, not really, not ever, in fact, it was up there for over a year."

Munroe said that on her blog, she was "not writing it not about anyone specific, they were caricatures of students that I've had over the years."

"It was meant tongue and cheek for myself and my friends, it was not for mass consumption... I'm sorry that it was taken out of context."

"But," she adds, "I stand by what I said."

Here's Natalie Munroe on GMA ...

What's your take on the situation?

I Agree with Ms, Natalie Munroe, I don't know what is wrong with kids these days. There is no desire of kids to work & others are just plain jerks, and everything i hear from kids mouths these days are nothing but cursing. We should go back to the old days, and make kids earn discipline, and this is coming from a 15 year old that is a freshman.

OMG! How unprofessional of Natalie. Just because she can, doesn't mean she should...that is, post public comments such as this blog. I am an educator, and no matter how tough it gets for the educators, we should not stoop to such unprofessional levels to vent...espcially when those she works with and educates are inferred to. This is almost like cyber bullying! Just sayin...

She gets paid to teach not write about her feelings. We spend good money to send our kids to schools, if you don't like your job switch careers. Even though she is protected under the first amendment with words like that towards children, she's unstable and shouldn't be allowed to teach.

Of course they were meant to be taken out of contents. They were directly at certain students that should of been addressed privately at a teachers meeting and even then should have been less disrespectful. Working with teenagers hell living with a teenager is no walk in the park and yes some of them are jerks, assholes, and even streetwalkers in a sort. By the way A garbage man probably gets paid more than a teacher.

I can not believe their is actually people out there who think this is right..it blows my mind.if she feels this way about the kids GET A NEW JOB.teenagers have been this way forever and always will be, she knew how it would be going into this job.if it were your child she was talking about, you would freak out.but because its not, you could careless and agree with it.more than likely the people saying they agree with are, dont have children.

If it was legal now a days to discipline kids like before they came up with bogus laws to protect their out of control ass teachers and other adults in general probably wouldn't have such a problem with them because they would learn the value of respect before they had to get their ass beat or bluntly told the truth about who they really are by the way they act.

Even though some of these things may be true, they're rude and hurtful statements that should only be said in privacy. Blogging about it is NOT privacy. Honestly, it doesn't bother me that she said those things, its WHERE she said it. Friends, family, fine. A blog? No. In my opinion, she should be fired for unproffessional behavior. She's as bad as she thinks the kids she teaches are. Unbelievable.

Of course.

I agree with Lara...Kids have no respect these days and I don't think anyone should have to put up with their behavior. I applaud Natalie for speaking her mind, which btw, is still protected under our first amendment right last time I checked....
