MTV Nixes Lauren Conrad Reality Show; Material Deemed "Too High Brow" For Audience
Last fall, MTV decided to bring back The Hills and Laguna Beach star Lauren Conrad for a new reality series focused on the young star’s burgeoning fashion line.
Yesterday, in a bit of a surprise, Conrad's series was passed on by the network.
“We decided not to go ahead with the show,” Head of Programming David Janollari said. "It was a great attempt but just didn’t feel like a perfect fit for us."
Lauren Conrad personally explained why that is in a statement to EW ...
“We sold a show to MTV, filmed it and are really proud of the final result. MTV felt the subject matter was too high brow for their audience and offered me the opportunity to change the show by incorporating more of my personal life."
"We agreed going in that this would be an aspirational show, focusing on my career and not my personal relationships. We delivered the show that we sold and are sorry MTV didn’t feel their viewers were savvy enough to appreciate it.”
Conrad says the series was more a documentary than a glossy soap like The Hills. Interesting that she walked, rather than put her personal life back on display.
Basically, Jersey Shore is the new MTV flagship and this didn't fit the bill. Are you disappointed they nixed LC's show? Or did it sound boring anyway?

im so mad that mtv won't show lc show i would loved to watch it she's my role model i hope she gos on vh1 they are better channel then mtv i used to love mtv but they are just getting stupid

Lauren Conrad is NOT talented. She's a reality TV whore with no personality. Her clothing line is basic and boring, nothing interesting whatsoever, and she has SO much assistance with designing it, it's hardly a solo project. What talent does she have? Nothing. She embarrassed the crap out of herself on Laguna Beach, her co-stars on The Hills are what made it watchable because Lauren herself is as interesting as watching paint dry.. she's only famous cause sad people obsess over her and how "talented" she is.. what a joke.

I would have liked to watch Lauren the savvy business entrepreneur. Too bad MTV passed up on the show. Hopefully, another network picks it up. Enough with her personal life MTV she's a diverse and talented female.

I have been looking forward to watching her show. I didn't mind the city as well. If MTV were to look at the ratings that the next fashion designer got, or top chef and shows like that they would realize that reality TV doesn't need to be based off of peoples ignorant acts and selfish ways as they do on jersey shore. I mean if they look at the ratings at I used to be fat isnt the same as Jersey shore yet still on all the damn time. Do they really think that people want to watch people struggle with their weight? If they do, then lets watch someone struggle for their dream after all what message is MTV really trying to send out to the young adults that are its audience? It needs to change its network name if anything they do not show MUSIC VIDEOS! Lets go back to the day when MTV supported artist and was a starting point for upcoming artist talking about its too eye brow, fashion is art. What does that even mean. There are enough stupid tv shows out there that MTV should have opened arm

i love lauren and i would have watched her show
to the hater writing...shes not stupid..her clothes line is actually nice..must we hate on what we dont have............nd dats not how lauren is..so...hush!

Lauren Conrad is another stupid bitch who shouldn't be famous. And, yes, MTV only makes shows for the stupid and those who feed off drama. But, seriously? Anyone who was going to watch that show is just as stupid as the people who watch Jersey Shore. Even Jersey Shore has to be more interesting than watching that stupid bitch struggle with, "OMGZ, WAT COLORZ SHUD I USE FOR THIS DRESS???? W8... WAT DOES INCHES MEAN AGAIN? HOW MANY? OMGZ, WAT IS SEVEN? DOES IT COME B4 OR AFTER NINE? OMG, IT IS LYK, SOOOO HARD 2 B ME!!!"
