Keith Olbermann: Fired By MSNBC!

by at . Comments

Keith Olbermann, one of the best known cable news personalities on either side of the political spectrum, was abruptly fired yesterday by MSNBC.

Olbermann, in the middle of a four-year $30 million deal set to last until 2012, announced on last night's edition of Countdown that it was his last.

The dismissal is said to be at least indirectly related to Comcast's acquiring of NBC and the parent company's distaste for his defiance and attitude.

Here's Olberman signing off for the final time last night ...

Sources said network brass basically paid the pundit to scram by working out an agreement in which he would get lost and continue to be paid.

He will have to stay off the air at least until fall as a result.

MSNBC issued a vague, unemotional statement saying it ended its contract with Olbermann, who hosted the top rated show on the network.

The statement read in part, "MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC's success and we wish him well in his future endeavors." Nice.

Olbermann was suspended briefly a few months ago in light of some political donations the host made, but no one saw this swift exit coming.

Executives have said tensions between Olbermann and the network, which were palpable to begin with, have been running high since then.

Neither side has offered a formal explanation, but the network said 10 p.m. host Lawrence O'Donnell would move into Keith's slot Monday.

What do you think of the move? Is MSNBC crazy for bidding happy trails to such a high-rated host? Good riddance or good luck to Keith?

The fact that these Fox idiots are on a hollywood site at all makes them. Well, Pinheads. Keith will be missed but I'm sure back soon, someplace. Good Luck Keith.

I think Rachael, Chris, Lawrence, and Ed are great, but I miss Keith.
Couldn't he come on as a guest? We need someone to balance O'Reilly.

Keith is the good guy Murdock is a low life like rush limbaugh, GlenBeck and Fox news scum bags O yes throw in the bag Morning Joe I stopped watching that 2 year ago the failed ex congressman was always trying to put down president Obama I think it was to make himself look better - he's says his racial slurs to sound like he's helping our good acting good speaking caring President what a ass he makes out of his self every time.

Keith, you spoke truth to lies, I hope you find a new venue soon. You rock.

Good riddance! We can hope that Rachel goes next.

TO HENRY: His dismissal is even more tragic and reprehensible because it comes at a time when he was perhaps the only high-profile political pundit to publicly apologize for any way in which his impassioned style may have contributed to the "vitriol" experienced in the nation's political parlance. . . . And he would not have done it at all if it had been A Republican who was shot. His response would have been they deserved it. The people on the far left are just as stupid as the people on the far right. People that are always talking about how bad Fox News is - it is quite obvious you never watch it. I watch Fox occasionally and I have NEVER heard the severe hate spewed on that channel that I hear on MSNBC. Not even close. Fox seems more civil to me.

The people replying they will never watch MSNBC again because they fired Keith Olbermann. You only like his show because he "bashed Bush" for the last however many years. He not only "bashed Bush" but thought it would be hilarious if he was asassinated. You all thought that was "great" because you hated Bush. He never states any sources for the "lies" that spew from his mouth. The funny part is, the ones crying because he won't be on anymore are from the 100,000 viewership he had. HILARIOUS! The man spewed more hate and venom that Beck and Hannity combined and you know it - you just won't admit it.

I think MSNBC has lost an outstanding new reporter. Keith Olbermann told the true when he reported the new. That's what's wrong with the world today. It's sad that when a report can't report the true and remain on the air. You know Mr Olbermann God sees and He hears. He knows your heart and that you wanted to let people know the true. I admire you for that.

May Chris Matthews, Ed Schultz and Rachel Maddow be next in line. Nothing but hateful socialists who actually believe themselves to be smarter than ...welll basically anyone else, and that includes the few morons who religiously follow them..

Miracles never cease. I NEVER watch msnbc or any of the vial crazy people who slither there but I will say this.. GOOD RIDDANCE KEITH OLBERMAN. You are a snake of the first order!!!
