Sarah Palin Rips Michelle Obama, Decries First Lady's Efforts to Curb Childhood Obesity

by at . Comments

Sigh. Sarah Palin is back in the news again.

For whatever reason, the ex-Alaska Governor took First Lady Michelle Obama and her efforts to improve childhood nutrition to task on Laura Ingraham's radio show.

Carrie Fisher Pre-Weight Loss

We know conservatives believe in smaller government, and there are strong cases to be made for that philosophy. Attacking Michelle's nutrition initiative, though?

Sarah Palin is not a fan of Michelle Obama's anti-obesity efforts.

Of the First Lady, Palin told Ingraham that "I think she has got a different worldview and she is not hesitant at all to share what her worldview is."

As for Sarah Palin's worldview, no one can make sense of it, but she does use big words like "exceptionalism" in the rant against Michelle below:

"She encapsulated what her view of America is, I believe, unless she has evolved and things have changed in the last two years, but she said it on the campaign trail twice that it was the first time that she had been proud of her country when finally people were paying attention to Barack Obama."

"I think that's appalling. We can think of this infinite number of reasons to be proud of American exceptionalism and it baffles me that anybody would have that view and then allow that view to bleed over into policy."

"Take her anti-obesity thing that she is on. She is on this kick, right. What she is telling us is she cannot trust parents to make decisions for their own children, for their own families in what we should eat."

"I'm going to be again criticized for bringing this up, but instead of a government thinking that they need to take over and make decisions for us according to some politician or politician's wife priorities, just leave us alone, get off our back, and allow us as individuals to exercise our own God-given rights to make our own decisions and then our country gets back on the right track."

Yes ... the government needs to "get off our back" for this silly "anti-obesity thing." Why encourage health when we can be as fat as we want! Freedom rules!

Aside from making it seem like nutrition is just some interest of Michelle, not a legitimate health issue that influences a host of others, should we do nothing?

Can't you encourage people to make smarter choices that benefit themselves and the public health system as a whole? How is that an evil federal takeover?

Let's worry about the fat kids instead of the millions of children that will go to bed hungry in our country tonight? And before someone leaves a comment back to me, the answer is "yes", I do as much as I can to help feed the homeless in my city. I'm not trying to down play child obesity, but you would think that someone in either of these women's position would put they're efforts towards more pressing issues. Just my opinion.

Sarah Palin is nothing but a jealous con artist. She is smart enough to con millions to pay her thousands of dollars to listen to her spout her ignorance and take her earnings back to Alaska to deposit in her bank account for herself and her family to never have to worry about how her family is going to make it through this recession.I really want to know how people can be so gullible and blind to think she really cares about America and what it stands for?I am an American that is below poverty level, but I know how to eat a hot dog instead of a steak.I may not be able at this time to have all my wants, but I do have all my needs.Americans need to wake up and stop looking for quick fixes to an age old problem.Sarah is helping herself by lining her pockets with money from the weak.Personally I know that God helps those that help themselves. If you really want to know the problem and find your solution to your individual needs look in the mirror and confront YOUR TRUTH..

So according to you, we should just let the problem of obesity take care of itself. You sound like someone who is so out of touch - perchance a Tea Partier? Michelle Obama can run rings around Sarah Palin in terms of intelligence and wisdom.

Who cares what Sarah Palin thinks or say she is all for publicity and judging by the wonderful job she is doing w/her
own children she shouldn't have anything to say on that subject!!

Sarah makes a great point here. we all need to follow her parenting example of just leaving kids alone to get pregnant out of wedlock and hurl homophobic slurs at anyone that takes exception to his/her spoiled family.

Sarah will do and say anything for publicity. She can't put a logical intelligent thought together without a speech writer. Her only cause is getting the most money she can.

Yes Sarah it's not like obesity is a huge epidemic in this country. I'm sure she is one of the first people to jump on how bad smoking is and her views on abortion make her a huge hypocrite.

I really think it's moot point regardless of both these 'Ladies' views. They should both just STFU about this topic! Why? Because... if the Feds don't stop reckless spending, we soon (if not already) won't be able to buy food anyway. "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED"

Every time Palin opens her flytrap she exposes how idiotic she is. She always seems to be on the attack with ANYTHING the President and his family does. As if she has all the right answers (NOT!!). Put a sock in it Palin.
