Sarah Palin Rips Michelle Obama, Decries First Lady's Efforts to Curb Childhood Obesity

by at . Comments

Sigh. Sarah Palin is back in the news again.

For whatever reason, the ex-Alaska Governor took First Lady Michelle Obama and her efforts to improve childhood nutrition to task on Laura Ingraham's radio show.

Carrie Fisher Pre-Weight Loss

We know conservatives believe in smaller government, and there are strong cases to be made for that philosophy. Attacking Michelle's nutrition initiative, though?

Sarah Palin is not a fan of Michelle Obama's anti-obesity efforts.

Of the First Lady, Palin told Ingraham that "I think she has got a different worldview and she is not hesitant at all to share what her worldview is."

As for Sarah Palin's worldview, no one can make sense of it, but she does use big words like "exceptionalism" in the rant against Michelle below:

"She encapsulated what her view of America is, I believe, unless she has evolved and things have changed in the last two years, but she said it on the campaign trail twice that it was the first time that she had been proud of her country when finally people were paying attention to Barack Obama."

"I think that's appalling. We can think of this infinite number of reasons to be proud of American exceptionalism and it baffles me that anybody would have that view and then allow that view to bleed over into policy."

"Take her anti-obesity thing that she is on. She is on this kick, right. What she is telling us is she cannot trust parents to make decisions for their own children, for their own families in what we should eat."

"I'm going to be again criticized for bringing this up, but instead of a government thinking that they need to take over and make decisions for us according to some politician or politician's wife priorities, just leave us alone, get off our back, and allow us as individuals to exercise our own God-given rights to make our own decisions and then our country gets back on the right track."

Yes ... the government needs to "get off our back" for this silly "anti-obesity thing." Why encourage health when we can be as fat as we want! Freedom rules!

Aside from making it seem like nutrition is just some interest of Michelle, not a legitimate health issue that influences a host of others, should we do nothing?

Can't you encourage people to make smarter choices that benefit themselves and the public health system as a whole? How is that an evil federal takeover?

Choose your side:

Sarah Palin's daughters, especially Bristol, don't look like they follow a very healthy eating plan. Is that why she's offended?

Obesity kills. It's not a liberal agenda,it's a medical fact. And women are not stupid. Scientifically speaking, they are equally likely to be intelligent or not as men. (These two women express both ends of that spectrum IMO.) Reading comments here makes me fear for humanity's future, let alone present. When did everyone stop thinking?

@Lauren: Ummm... Obama is the President of the United States. For four or eight years, he has a job that involves the welfare of hundreds of millions of people, so he does have to sacrifice time with his kids as a result.
Palin is a paid speaker who quit the office that could have actually been used to make real change and help people in order to sacrifice time with her kids and make gobs of money and headlines. But, sure, go ahead and take the easy way out of somehow comparing these two because one is a man and the other is a woman.

Go Michelle!

Abe Lincoln would have been repulsed at the thought that Sarah Palin is a republican.

Sarah Palin's a fuckin idiot. She's all in it for fame as far as I'm concerned.. HELLO, "Sarah Palin's Alaska".. gimme a break! To all you fools who actually watch that junk, get a clue.
Can't stand this woman.. and I'm not even American!

Hmm there's one. I think Palin is well, if she is the best the Republicans can offer and they continue with the "stupid is as stupid does and that's the way we like it" vein of ideology, I imagine Palin will just remain a rabble rousing figure head in this decades political fun fest. On the other hand I also feel less government telling people how to live is a good thing. By all means encourage health and safety as a nation but don't assume you have the answers for everyone nor that fat and health are mutually and morally exclusive of one another. Be careful with your absolutes and insistence that everyone do as you say or wish them to. That isn't freedom, that is a dictatorship, and some of the most insidious and genocidal ones in history have began with well meant and insistent programs "For your own good..."

@ "The Wicked" I was gonna whack back at HASSA but looked up hassa in my Urban Dictionary. Still can't stop LMAO !!! Check it out

Hassa quit attacking my dude D-Bo, he made a simple comment that was meant to be humorous and ultimately may become truth... I think Sarah is reaching for straws when trying to attack Michelle over the living healthier deal. However, I ultimately agree with Palin that the government needs to stay the fuck out of everyone's business!!! Michelle can run rings around Sarah??? That's not saying much considering your dealing with dumb and dumber!!!! Mock ing bird yeah.... Women are dumb Hassa lol!!! (JK, you just strike me as the feminist type)

Last I checked humans were great multi-taskers and able to worry about more than one issue at a time. We can worry about childhood obesity, poverty, hungry children, cancer, aids, etc. all at the same time....I know, who'da thunk it right? Wish someone would muzzle Palin. Seeing as it was McCain who set her loose, he should be charged with caging her back up.
