Did Jessica Simpson Buy Her Own Engagement Ring?
As Beyonce crooned, if you like it, you should put a ring on it.
Jessica Simpson apparently took this timeless mantra to heart.
The star, who recently announced her engagement to Eric Johnson, reportedly forked out $100,000 of her own money for a ruby-and-diamond Neil Lane band.
The future Mr. and Mrs. Jessica Simpson steppin' out this fall.
"No way could Eric, who doesn’t have a job, afford to purchase such an expensive ring,” a source said. "Yes, he made a little money in the NFL and is from a wealthy family, but unless his parents helped him out, Jessica must have paid for it."
Definitely. That MUST be what happened.
Sources add she may also fund an extravagant wedding so as not to be upstaged by ex-husband Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey, who just got engaged too.
“It will be big, elaborate," said the Simpson source. "She’s already starting planning everything and has every family member working on her big day."
“We all want Jessica to be happy and finally find love after all she has been through," the source adds, "but she doesn’t understand that in the long run if she pays for everything it will hurt her relationship with any man.”
Sure, it's a little degrading, but it's not necessarily a deal-breaker if the man gets to quit business school to live the life of an A-lister while waking up every morning next to Jessica Simpson. Just saying, could be worse for E.

Brittany, could not have said it better myself! She had to have bought the ring or HER daddy did if his didn't. He just looks like the type that doesn't care if she is the bread winner and makes WAY more money that he'll ever make. He's not THAT dumb. Oh hell no! She is the "cash cow" to him. (no pun intended) $100,000 for a ruby and diamond engagement band? No thanks. Vanessa's ring at least has class!!!! I hope Jessica has shed some of the dumbness that made her famous and can spell or say PRE-NUP! Savvy business woman but this is a huge mistake, IMO. After the Romo/Mayer disasterous relationship(s) she WANTS (needs) "a puppy" to follow her and adore her so I guess she found him. Now they'll have a few kids and then she is stuck with his butt forever. I always wondered WTF she was thinking to dump Nick in the first place. What is the matter with her? If you dump Nick Lachey you at least try and trade UP not down.

I don't think they'll have a big wedding, I think it'll be like their relationship- intimate & romantic. They both seem happy so who cares what their motives are? He may be ding-y & emotional but I still like her!

Eric Johnson played two years in the NFL and made the league minimum. Of course the league minimum is $400 K a season.
He probably did buy it knowing that he is marrying a filthy rich woman and he will never have to work again in his life.
