Dancing With the Stars Recap: Not a Good Situation

by at . Comments

Tonight, we'll see how much clout fans of Jersey Shore and teen pregnancy have.

The Situation and Karina Smirnoff scored the lowest number of points on Dancing With the Stars Monday - 28 out of 60! - leaving them on the chopping block.

Right behind them: Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas, whose total of 32 (16 for technique, 16 for performance), has them in jeopardy along with The Siturina.

Is one of these two couples destined to leave tonight?

Bristol Palin and The Situation, arguably the show's biggest pop culture "gets" for the current cast, have to be the odds-on favorites to go home after Monday.

“You know that was a terrible mess,” said judge Bruno Tonioli, after Sitch's Argentine tango, which included Sorrentino struggling through the lifts and throws.

Carrie Ann Inaba is right, there's been improvement in his dancing. But will it be enough? If there's a saving grace for Mike, it's that Bristol may be worse off.

The judges know it and Mark knows it. She's just not a performer.

Not shockingly, at the opposite end of the spectrum, Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough are back at the top, outperforming the rest of the dancers by eight points!

The three judges showered Grey and Hough’s Argentine tango with compliments, awarding an amazing 56 total points (27 for technique, 29 for performance).

“Excellent technique, beautifully played, magnificent performance, well done,” said judge Len Goodman, while Carrie Ann noted simply, “That was Ah-may-zing!”

Brandy and Maksim Chermkovskiy, who danced the rumba, scored the second highest total score Monday with 48 points (22 for technique, 26 for performance).

Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani, who briefly toppled Grey and Hough from the top spot last week, placed third Monday night with a strong 46 (24 and 22).

The rest of the field ended up about where you'd expect.

It's crazy to see Audrina legitimately challenging Brandy and Jennifer, while Kyle and Rick perform consistently well, too. Florence and Kurt? A bit lackluster.

Here are last night's scores in groups of three ...

TOP THREE

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough: 56
Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy: 48
Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani: 46

MIDDLE THREE

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer: 44
Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke: 39
Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas: 35

BOTTOM THREE

Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya: 34
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas: 32
The Situation and Karina Smirnoff: 28

Who do you think is going home tonight? Can the Jersey Shore contingent save Situation? Is he doomed? Who are you rooting for on Dancing With the Stars?

We should have started dancing with one arm waaay before.

Cristian de la Fuente [following his injury, trip to the hospital and subsequent stellar performance]

I am not the best dancer, and I have not been the best dancer from the beginning. I am happy we made it this far.
