Dancing With the Stars Recap: Boo, Sarah Palin!

by at . Comments

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough earned the top score on Dancing With the Stars last night, cementing their status as one of the couples of beat this season.

But the aftermath of their jive may have been even more notable.

As Brooke Burke turned to the audience and warned them that without their votes, Jennifer could follow David Hasselhoff out the door, audible booing began.

Derek and Jennifer were overshadowed by an audience member.

"There's booing in the ballroom - we don't know why," a perplexed Brooke reported. "Why is there booing?" Grey wonders, since she and Derek did great.

Cut to host Tom Bergeron, sitting next to Sarah Palin in the crowd.

"All right, thank you, Brooke," Tom said, with no mention of the booing. "I'm here with guest ballroom commentator Sarah Palin, who joins us from Alaska."

Moderate applause from the audience. So was she booed or not?

ABC says the booing wasn't directed at Palin, but rather at the fact that
Jennifer Grey had received "only" a trio of 8s from the judges. A good cover story.

"They were just expressing their feelings about a really, really good dance," a network spokeswoman told the L.A. Times. "It's not at all unusual." Mmm.

See for yourself here and draw your own conclusions ...

Asked for her thoughts on the show, Palin said "This is amazing - it's so exciting, it's great to see all this courage and joy and exuberance by every dancer."

Her thoughts on the judges.

"Oh, the judges? ... Okay, now, it's like before a hockey game - you're not going to chew out the refs before your team is up on the ice! You guys are great!"

Her favorite dancer so far?

"Oh, my goodness, they're all amazing, they really are," she gushed. "This is great! Bristol's not up yet. Bristol the Pistol, yeah, that's who we're rooting for!"

And this concludes Dancing With the Stars' sideshow for September 27. Bristol Palin, for her part, really did a nice job quickstepping, as did Audrina Patridge.

Brandy disappointed a bit with her jive, and with her lack of chemistry with Maksim Chmerkovskiy. We're gonna need to start some dating rumors soon, guys.

Rick Fox's jive, full of rhythm and power, was a hit, and Kurt Warner did a better job equaling Fox this week, looking more comfortable jiving than waltzing.

Florence Henderson held her own ... at least compared to than Michael Bolton. "We have a 3?" Tom Bergeron said incredulously when Bruno doled one out.

That about sums it up. The underscored Margaret Cho, Florence and The Situation would be candidates to leave if Bolton weren't clearly the worst Monday.

Here's how the night's scores ended up:

Jennifer Grey & Derek Hough: 24
Audrina Patridge & Tony Dovolani: 23
Bristol Palin & Mark Ballas: 22
Kyle Massey & Lacey Schwimmer: 22
Brandy & Maksim Chmerkovskiy: 21
Kurt Warner & Anna Trebunskaya: 21
Rick Fox & Cheryl Burke: 21
Florence Henderson & Corky Ballas: 19
Margaret Cho & Louis van Amstel: 18
The Situation & Karina Smirnoff: 18
Michael Bolton & Chelsie Hightower: 12

Who do you think was the best on Dancing With the Stars last night? Was Palin really booed? Will Bolton be leaving us? Comment below with your thoughts.

Finally, who are you rooting for on DWTS?

I watched the show that night and watched the repeat section of the video and the booing clearly started once the votes were shown for Jennifer Gray; she received 8's and the booing was because they should have been higher. After that was said and done the booing stopped and then they went on over to Sarah Palin and I listened clearly in the video and I heard no booing at that point. The left wing media needs to get some strong eye glassess and strong hearing aids or take a chill pill for your denial.

The Audience is not the only ones booing Palin so are the established politicians in Washington. Just like the estabished politicians in Alaske booed her as she exposed them for there crimes the Washington crowd is completely scared of her. Maybe all those creepy politicians are ABC fans too.

ABC is doing its best to cover it up.It is difficult to argue that they were really booing the scores. It was reported that Palin was on the move during the boos and thus, making herself visible to the audience even if not on camera. That is why there was booing before she was on camera. The booing was after the scores. Also, it’s interesting to listen to the Palin-backers fall back on the “you are all so immature. It's not the first time Sarah Palin has been booed and theres proof its called youtube check it out sometime and I've seen Sarah Palin get booed YOU BETCHA! at a book signing as soon as she got off the bus Booo's and even "PALIN SUCKS CHANTS" so funny! Sarah Palin turns off many people.A CBS poll finds that 71% percent of Americans don't want Sarah Palin as president just google it and find out for your self. You Betcha! Palin=Ratings ABC knows that its only right ABC to cover this up.When Palin insults and Pushes!!People Push Back

It was unusual for the fans to start booging AFTER the scores were given. Obviously, the boos were meant for Sarah Palin but ABC will not admit this fact. This is why Jennifer Grey and her partner were confused about the booing. In addition, her daughter was given a higher score than she actually deserved.

May I add my "boo" for Sarah Palin.

I never heard the boos?? I agree with Katya this shits getting old...

Wow- whoever writes for this is OBSESSED with Sarah Palin. She clearly gets under your skin. Why are you so afraid of her? If she was a liberal she'd be their POSTER child- another example of LIBERAL HYPOCRACY. Go pick on someone else- it's getting old

I’ve watched DWTS every year since it started. I have never seen the audience wait until all 3 judges have given their scores, and then wait for a while and then simultaneously Boo. Did Sarah Palin just happen to come on when the group booing started? And why didn’t we hear any boos after each judge gave his/her score, like all shows in the past. Did the audience just hold their boos until after all 3 judges gave their scores, then pause a while, and then let out a big Boo. Watch the show again. ABC's attempted coverup is a nice try, but c'mon, it's clear what happened. We aren't stupid.
