Britney Spears may not be quite on the level of Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston when it comes to bogus tabloid reports, but she's not far behind.
Ever since the singer went legitimately insane in 2007, celebrity gossip sites have had a field day, so much so that her site has a "BS report" to call them out.
We expect a rebuttal of this ASAP, but it's too funny not to share: The Enquirer says Britney was scared of the Glee cast ... and all strangers for that matter.
Is Britney Spears actually shy, even afraid of people?
The troubled singer supposedly snubbed the cast of Glee when she filmed her cameo for its Britney Spears episode because she has a weird phobia of strangers.
“They were starstruck, but Britney didn’t mix with them at all,” a source said. “She was isolated while on set, and the cast was forbidden to contact her directly.”
Sources say Britney’s dread of human contact stems from situations in which hordes of overzealous fans have swarmed her, which actually isn't that far-fetched.“It’s left her terrified around strangers,” explained an insider, who says Britney is able to perform on stage because she is physically separated from the audience.
“Britney genuinely loves Glee, but she was filled with anguish at the prospect of meeting the cast," the source said. "She knew she would be asked for autographs, to pose for personal photos and that people would try and chat her up on the set."
"All of it made her nervous.”
Is there some truth to this? Maybe. But like all Britney Spears gossip, it's probably overblown. The star Tweeted (or at least her manager did) nothing but praise.
She wrote of her namesake on the show: “Awww Heather Morris is sooo cute! Brittany S Pearce. Ha! She was so fun to work with and was really sweet in person.”
“I know how hard it is to dance with that snake! Nice job.”
Regarding the episode, she praised it and thanked fans: “I loved it! Thank you guys SO much for making this happen!” One part admittedly scared her, though ...
“Jane Lynch scares me. [She] is hilarious and scary all rolled into one.”
