The highlight of the Dancing With the Stars premiere – to fans and Bristol Palin herself – was the revealing of her sexy dress beneath a more conservative outfit.

“That was my favorite part!” she told Us Weekly after the performance. “Leading up to it I was pretty nervous, but once I pulled the jacket off it was all good!”

Added partner Mark Ballas, “That’s when things kicked in, and she was like, ‘Ok, let’s go!'” They scored only 16, but Len Goodman praised her “good hip action.”

Wait … wait for it … that’s what Levi Johnston said!

While Bristol and Mark cha-cha-ed, Sarah cheered from afar.

Bristol Palin said that the show’s routines are difficult, but she’s optimistic: “It’s good we’re going in the right direction, but we’ve still got a lot of work to do.”

Ballas is “pumped because if you saw the first day to now – her improvement is crazy! She’s the most improved and we are so happy. I’m really proud of her.”

So where was Sarah Palin last night?

She was supposed to be there at the studio in person, but instead was reportedly cheering her her oldest daughter at their home in Wasilla, Alaska.

“Over-the-moon excited and happy for Bristol!” the former V.P. nominee Twittered. “Cheering her on @ the DWTS party in the Palin living room.”

Probably for the best. You don’t want to overshadow your daughter’s network debut. What did you think of Bristol Palin last night? Any thoughts?
