A friend of Liam's confirms that he's single, while a rep for Miley has reportedly said the same to Us Weekly.
This isn't the first time rumors of a split have gained traction. Cyrus was forced to take to her blog in June to shoot down a National Enquirer article that proved to be false - or, perhaps, just premature.

People who hate on Miley need to back off. I'm not exactly her fan (as in i can name like... two songs...), but I don't insult her. And I don't act like I know things about her. She's a stranger to me, and tabloids don't mean a damn thing 90% of the time. I don't know her, so I don't judge her. It isn't my place. Just as it isn't any one else's place. Judging someone you've never met is like buying a car you've never seen. In other words, it's dumb as hell.
