Secrets aren't always no fun. Secrets don't always hurt someone.

Demi Lovato learned this lesson the hard way, as she's busy touring the country with The Jonas Brothers and promoting Camp Rock 2 - but all she hears are questions about her break-up with Joe Jonas.

"It's not very much fun when you break up in a public relationship. So, maybe next time keep a secret," she tells People magazine. "You want to shout it from the rooftops. That's what you do when you fall in love. At the same time, I learned my lesson. I'll go public when I marry someone one day."

In the meantime, Demi says she's "perfectly happy" being single and continues to defend her ex from criticisms of how he handles a split, mostly stemming from his dumping of Taylor Swift.

"I know that he has the best intentions," Lovato says. "Definitely most guys don't have the same intentions that he does."

Demi turned 18 last week, readers, and it's not too late to wish this actress a very happy birthday.
