Now two-and-a-half years old, will Britney Spears' conservatorship ever end? It just might in the near future, but only if the pop star takes the initiative.

Created in February 2008, the conservatorship will continue unless she or her handlers file a petition to end it and there are no indications of that so far.

If she did ask to end it, the judge would have to satisfy herself that Britney Spears essentially was capable of making decisions for herself and her kids.

Debatable, to say the least.

However, the upcoming Glee guest star has made tremendous strides since her two involuntary hospitalizations and a judge would take that seriously.

She's even wearing a bra. Our girl has come so far!

That doesn't mean the conservatorship would just end, of course, but the judge would almost certainly re-evaluate it. Not no request has been made.

There are really two conservatorships, one over Britney's personal decisions and the other over the music superstar's financial and professional affairs.

She's shown no interest in terminating the latter. As for whether Britney wants to end the conservatorship over her personal life, that changes often.

She's expressed a lot of discontent over it in the past, however, dad Jamie Spears has given her a lot of freedom this year, so that has eased tensions.

Nevertheless ... whether she's able to handle it without the safety net is another story. We've seen signs of the crazy returning in the fairly recent past.
