Sarah Ferguson: Drunk and Taking Bribes

by at . Comments

Sarah Ferguson, a.k.a. Fergie, a.k.a. Britain's Duchess of York, says she was drinking and "not in my right place" when she was caught in a sting operation.

The set-up? Ferg was caught on video offering access to her former husband, Prince Andrew, for $724,000. She told Oprah Winfrey she was "in the gutter."

"I'm aware of the fact that I've been drinking, you know. I was not in my right place," Sarah Ferguson said in an interview set to air on Oprah on Tuesday.

Ferguson said she had seen the video while traveling through airports recently but had not sat down to watch closely: "I haven't faced the devil in the face."

According to transcripts of the show, the Duchess says "I was in the gutter at that moment." We're inclined to believe it, given the accusations in this case.

TROUBLED DUCHESS: Sarah Ferguson has some explaining to do.

Tape of the sting was posted by London's News of the World, which set up the meeting. Ferguson asks for $40,000 cash and 500,000 pounds ($718,500).

In exchange for that wire transfer, she agrees to introduce the paper's undercover reporter to the prince - reportedly under the guise of a business meeting.

"I can open any door you want," Ferguson reportedly said in the video.

The newspaper's big sting operation has caused a major embarrassment for the 50-year-old Sarah Ferguson, who has a pair of daughters with Prince Andrew.

Andrew is the second son of Queen Elizabeth and fourth in line to the throne. The prince is also known as the Duke of York. The couple divorced in 1996.

He acts as Britain's special representative for international trade and investment, so surely this can't be going over well across the pond. More to come.

I don't like the royal family very much. Andrew sounds O.K., according to Sarah Ferguson, but like his brother Charles I don't like the way he lets his Mom, the Queen, run so much of the show when it comes to ex-wives. I don't like the Queen at all. The way she forced Charles to marry a young woman, Diana, that he did not love and the way she's treated Fergie during most of the last 20+ years makes her the mother and mother-in-law from hell. Moreover, she should have stepped down from the thrown years ago. I love Duchess Sarah Fergus. She just got caught up with a horribly dysfunctional family. The Queen is short several screws like her ancestor, King Henry VIII or one of those crazy ancestors. Perhaps it's time for England to just get rid of the role of monarch as head of the Church of England. It hasn't done them well historically.

These uptight British find all of this appauling. This woman was married to a royal, & had 2 children by a royal, I find it more appauling that she is broke.

Well she is the mother of the Royal grandchildren!! Come on Queen .......the mother of your grandchildren should be better taken care of financially. I'm just saying............

P.S. Despite the divorce, her daughters are a blessing, and Fergie will find her own way (again).

Fergie had finally gotten on the good side of Queen Elizabeth, now
to have to start all over (again) at square one to try to get back into her good graces will be a job within itself. Most women dream of marrying the prince.Fergie did just that, and ended up being worst off than before meeting him. Divorced with two daughters,
still living in another part of the (same) house with the prince,
and in debt up to her a$$ after the divorce.

Give her a break. We all use our contacts and connections to help us pay the bills. This just looks bad because it's "royalty". Bottom line -- every major interview with every major news network has used some sort of "game" or reward system in order to get the scoop, even if they deny it. I know, I work in this industry.
