PETA to Brooke Shields: You're a Fur Pimp!

PETA is at it again.

No, the attention-seeking organization is actually not posing a D-list celebrity naked this time, wasting money on a campaign that could otherwise be spent on the lives of animals.

Instead, the company is taking at at Brooke Shields, after the actress visited Kopenhagen Fur's workshop in March and said:

"I will advocate that both my generation and the younger generation can wear fur" and "I will wear the fur garment when I follow my children to school, when I drink coffee and when I sleep."

We must say: those are especially odd comments to make. Of all the causes to advocate, who chooses fur?!?

PETA held nothing back in its response, calling out Shields and her floundering career:

"When I was a little girl, I dreamed about growing up to be a rock star. Or maybe a veterinarian. Or a roller derby queen. I didn't dream about anally electrocuting animals on fur farms, but apparently Brooke Shields did.

"We understand that when some actors' careers begin to fade, they'll do just about anything to stay in the limelight, including appearing in eyelash-growing commercials and starring in short-lived TV shows. But Brooke, did you really want the world to remember you as a 'fur pimp' who stares agog at rows of animal skins?"

We have to (painfully) admit: we agree with PETA in this one instance. How about you?

I just want to tell to all these pro fur people, why you don't use your own kids to make a coat? Why don't you stay a life long in a cage where you can't move? Why you don't sacrifice yourself and let's make a human coat? Come on? Are you afraid of that because you have to soffer? Aaaahh but if it's animal which has to soffer, who cares, right? You are simply egoistic and selfish. I just hope there will be the just punishment one day, for you, all the people who are torturing animals or are the cause for that! you don't have any conscience! Poor you!

Life is life, as someone once said, if life is based on the ability to feel pain and breathe, then rat is pig is boy. We are all the same, humans just have this disbelief that we are far more superior to anything else so as to make excuses for bad behaviour. Fur is wrong. If someone thinks that skinning an animal alive is ok, and there is nothing wrong with that, then I pity you. Animals feel fear, and have nervous systems just like we do. Would you want to be skinned alive, and still be breathing and blinking throughout? If you are the sort of person who thinks thats ok, then you have no empathy or compassion in your body at all, and thats shameful.

First I will address the Brooke Shields comments... how many people that comment on this and how many people at PETA have had a career as successful as Brooke Shields? I would say slim to few in comparison. Secondly because of her success, she and every other celebrity have their choices scrutinized by the media and any other self seeking organization that wants to make a stink in an effort to interject their name into the mainstream media commentary (Hello PETA!). Thirdly... and this may anger a few maybe many, why do people care more about animals than they do other humans?--- the same people bashing for animal rights are the same folks supporting abortion.... what... yeah I went there, you want to defend an animal because they don't have a voice... why don't you stand up for an unborn child that doesn't have one either.. (o'sorry forgot freedom of choice) well get this through your skull until you start caring about everyone.... it doesn't matter if you care about anyThing... life i

Peta, you people need to get a job. Humans are the top of the food chain for a reason. We eat meat and adapt to any enviroment. Our first piece of clothing was fur. We have been wearing fur for millions of years and we will be wearing fur tomorrow. I will wear fur any time this free american wants to and I will support Brooke Shield or any one who wants to live free and pursue happiness. Peta why are you not in the gulf. You take peoples money to save animals but all you do is take the money for yourself. You kill more animals than you save. Get a job.

No big deal? To remove the skins of animals for no reason but to make ourselves look cool or feel important? Tell you what, let's start wearing the skin of small children - it'll be the 'new big thing' - we can make it work people! After all, the demise and destruction of beings that can't save themselves is extremley fashionable!

While I do not agree with PETA's comments on someone's career (that is not fighting fair), I like how they put the pressure on someone in a very public way -- it makes the individual very aware that their choices of cruelty will not go unnoticed.

If you wear fur, you lack compassion -- fact. There is absolutely ZERO reason to wear fur in this day and age. It's cruelty beyond what the uninformed individual can imagine.

I'm a vegan and I don't put my beliefs on others -- I choose to live a life my way. I get grilled all the time on the whys and hows, etc. Through questions from friends and acquaintances, I have actually 'made people think' when I explained certain things to them -- and unintentionally impacted them through sharing knowledge. Awareness is powerful and there is a lot out there that is just 'accepted' because we don't know what really goes on. And when we do, we realize our choices have an impact.

BUT if I ever see someone wearing a fur coat -- they are d

OK just a little lesson our ancestors have been wearing furs & animal skins as well as the native Americans used all of the animal when killing it but most close minded people don't remember that. I am sure most people have owned or worn leather or have that in there furniture so get off your high horse and give it a rest it isn't the killing of animals that really gets most people it is the over killing of these animals that most people have a problem with. That would mean all PETA members & supports are against any kind of animal killing even for consumption which in the circle of life isn't possible other wise we would be over populated by animals & everyone would either starve or die from malnutrition so u dumb asses need to know what u are speakin about before you give your uneducated opinions. Furs & any other animal skin is OK to wear but do it in moderation the only problem I have is the over killing.

I wish people knew more about fur. My grandmother raised minks and some other fur animals including chinchilla, which she didn't care for. I used to help when she sheared them. She had some kind of knock out drops, which she got from a vet, and they were out for just a few minutes then she would shear them, and they would wake up. She would sell the shearings by the pound and no animal was harmed. Most fur farmers don't kill. I remember when she helped someone else get started in far farming and instead of shearing, the man killed the animals and my grandmother wouldn't help him anymore and told him that killing them was stupid, because they grow and get bigger and that gives you more fur poundage.
