Less than one month ago, Bret Michaels was lying in a hospital room, thinking he was going to die from a brain hemorrhage.

What was the rocker thinking as he lay on the gurney? I'm gonna keep wearing my signature bandana, he tells Oprah Winfrey in an interview that airs next week, because:

"If I'm going out, I want to go out rockin.'"

Michaels also said he prayed to God for help, relaying his thoughts: "You gotta let me live through this. I've done a lot of rotten things. I'm asking for a break here."

The moment the subarachnoid hemorrhage took place, Michaels said he knew something "was severely wrong."

"It just exploded instantly – ran from my temple down to the back of my skull," added the reality star.

Incredibly, Michaels plans to return to the stage in Biloxi on May 28. He also may appear on the May 23 live season finale of Celebrity Apprentice, where he's still alive for the $250,000 prize for his charity.

Most importantly of all, of course, the singer is simply alive. Period.
