Critics Slam Miley Cyrus, The Last Song
On more than one recent occasion, Miley Cyrus has said she plans on taking a hiatus from music to focus on acting.
Let's hope her future efforts on the big screen go better than The Last Song.
A majority of film critics have come down hard on the movie, specifically citing Miley's acting as "stiff" and "unconvincing." Here are excerpts of what they had to say about the flick, which opens this week...
A more convincing star could make this a degree more tolerable, although in Cyrus's defense not much more. Allegedly, this is the film in which Cyrus gets all, like, dramatic. If by 'dramatic' one means pouty, sullen, and cute, then OK. -- The Boston Globe
Acting, for the moment at least, seems almost entirely beyond her... she pouts, slouches, storms in and out of rooms and occasionally cracks a snaggle-toothed smile, but most of the time she seems to be mugging for the camera, play-acting rather than exploring the motives and feelings of her character. -- The New York Times
Miley Cyrus met boyfriend Liam Hemsworth on the set of The Last Song. That's about the only positive thing to come from the movie.
It's the worst of both worlds as Disney cash cow Miley Cyrus makes the most dubious "dramatic" debut of any singer since Britney Spears. -- The New York Post
As likable a performer as she is, Cyrus simply can't act. Even Sparks' formulaic material proves too challenging for her. -- The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
All the obvious elements combine to manipulate the audience into a weepy time at the movies - again. -- USA Today
Will you go see The Last Song? If so, write in and share your opinion on the movie... and/or your advice as to what field Miley might wish to consider next.
Sandra Bullock: The Final Humiliation
Newly-minuted Oscar winner Sandra Bullock was on top of the world just a few weeks ago. Now she's hit rock bottom amid the tawdry Jesse James cheating scandal.
James nailed Michelle McGee, Melissa Smith, Brigitte Daguerre and possibly others - but it was a shocking discovery of her own that sent The Blind Side star reeling.
Reeling so hard, according to reports, that it's left Sandra Bullock wondering if she can ever face her cheating hubby, who just checked in to rehab in Tucson, again.
Star reports that Sandra "mistakenly grabbed Jesse's laptop in the rush to move out of the house they shared in Sunset Beach, Calif." What she found? SICK stuff.
No, seriously. We're talking worse than the Jesse James Nazi photo.
Says a source, "the explicit material rocked her to the core... she stumbled upon some really twisted evidence proving he's not the man she thought he was." Uhh...
WHAT SANDRA SAW ... made her collapse and not eat?
"She found things on his laptop that she'd never thought her husband would be into," the source adds vaguely. "This was way beyond anything she could imagine."
Sandra was so horrified, she "had to have the computer removed from her house." Okay, what the heck was this guy doing, running a ... you know what, forget it.
The insider concludes his or her in-depth report with this brutally honest truth: "Sandra's just completely devastated that Jesse led a double life behind her back!"
Wow, ya think? Bold statement there.
So what was on the computer? We may never know, people. We may never know. But it sounds like it's some seriously nasty $h!t ... putting Tiger Woods to shame!
Below are two other tabloid covers this week broaching the issue somewhat less scandalously. But come on. How long until you think Sandra files for divorce?
Sandra Bullock should totally ...

Heather McComb, James van der Beek Finalize Divorce Terms
The Bank of Beek is open for Heather McComb.
James Van Der Beek is now one step closer to freedom, reaching a settlement with his estranged wife to amicably end their seven-year marriage this week.
Per court documents, the former Dawson's Creek star and McComb hashed out the deal through mediation. He agreed to pay $7,750 a month until 2013.
Heather McComb, a onetime Party of Fiver who has guested on CSI and Prison Break, currently earns just $1,750 a month. The Beek? $35,000. Damn.
James van der Beek and Heather McComb are done for.
The actor will also retain possession of the couple's Hollywood home and keep residuals from his acting career and various projects/screenplays he's optioned/written.
Van Der Beek and McComb, 32, tied the knot in July 2003. He filed for divorce late last year citing irreconcilable differences. The couple does not have any children.
The divorce should be official later this year.
It's a Justin Bieber World
My World, if you're in Justin Bieber's shoes, is not just the name of his album ... or his second album, My World 2.0. It's what the teenage baller rules. Hard.
The rest of us just live here. He should really charge rent.
Sure, the dude could keep a lid on it sometimes, saying Miley Cyrus isn't his type or that Mariah Carey is past her prime. But his sales back up his attitude.
My World 2.0 topped the album charts this week, making Justin Bieber the youngest male solo artist ever to score a No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.
HIS WORLD: Justin Bieber. Cannot. Be. Stopped.
The prepubescent singer is also the youngest male solo artist to score two simultaneous albums in the top five (as My World rounds out this week's list).
With his forthcoming national tour dates and an upcoming April 10 appearance on Saturday Night Live, Bieber is inching closer to pop culture domination.
Oh who are we kidding, he's already dominated. Just be grateful you can even check out our gallery of Justin Bieber pictures and bow down to the king.
Kate Gosselin Planning Special "Jon & Kate Themed Routine" For Dancing with the Stars
Kate Gosselin proved she's as good at being a diva as she is terrible at actual dancing, but she somehow survived to see another week on Dancing with the Stars.
While Kate butted heads with partner Tony Dovolani this past week, wait until you hear what they have planned for next Monday's episode of the competition.
A Jon-and-Kate-themed dance.
We are totally serious. Tony will be channeling Jon Gosselin as Kate portrays herself in next week's storytelling assignment. Just let that sink in for a moment:
They will take her marriage implosion, which made celebrity news headlines for a year, into a high-step dance routine. And you think you've heard everything.
If Jon Gosselin makes a cameo next week, we'll retire.
"It's my story over the past two years," Kate said. "We're very, very excited." It will be very "Dramatic," promises Kate. To which Tony replies, "Lots of drama."
And ratings, most likely. Can Julianne Hough play Hailey Glassman?
Just to make sure we got the point, Kate reiterated, this time with a little more emphasis, that this is gonna be a dance with "Oh my gosh, so much drama."
As much as we could decry this shark-jumping, contrived nonsense as a low point in reality TV history, it's actually a pretty genius move on ABC's part since:
- People love Kate and don't want to see her leave the show
- People love watching Kate humiliate herself on the show
Either way, she's on the show. Punch her ticket to the finals now.
American Idol Performances of the Week: Michael Lynche and Lee DeWyze
Fans will ultimately have the final say, but to THG, Michael Lynche and Lee DeWyze stood out most on American Idol Tuesday. The judges were certainly impressed.
In fact, Simon Cowell said that it was his cover of India.Arie's "Ready for Love" that finally made him a credible artist in his eyes. For the surly Brit, that's saying a lot.
Slowing things down with an acoustic guitar, Big Mike sounded great and wowed the panel and audience alike. We're pretty sure the voters will turn out for this, too.
Here's Michael Lynche singing "Ready For Love" ...
Lee DeWyze also made a statement last night, perhaps propelling himself to contender status with a soulful, raspy, powerhouse rendition of "Treat Her Like a Lady."
"This was the night your life may have changed forever," Simon said. Again, high praise from the man. Follow the jump to see Lee do his version of the classic ...
Kissing Miley Cyrus: Liam Hemsworth Tells All
Miley Cyrus' first kiss with Liam Hemsworth wasn't the most tender of moments. It unfolded on camera – in front of an entire crew – during The Last Song.
Not that the Australian actor was disappointed when it happened.
"We turned up on set the very first day and originally it was just a scene where we were running through the water and splashing and having fun," he said.
All in her first movie acting gig. No wonder Miley's quitting music.
"And halfway through the scene, the director yelled 'Kiss!' And we got thrown into a kiss on the boat," he recalled on Ryan Seacrest's KISS-FM radio show.
While it was "hard not to get close" to his costar while filming in Tybee Island, Ga., "It was good, 'cause, you know, [you] get the first one out of the way."
"We were filming together every day, and hanging out every day," Liam added. "We really didn’t have any other friends down there, so we just hung with each other."
It also helped that Miley Cyrus' mother, Tish, whom Liam Hemsworth described as "the boss," gave a stamp of approval on the budding relationship early. Her dad?
Well, Billy Ray another pressing question for Hemsworth, which Seacrest relayed: "How serious is it gonna get?" Hemsworth's reply was simply: "It's pretty serious."
Gulp.
Recently, the couple stepped out for the first time as a couple on the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of The Last Song, which hits theaters on Wednesday.
Hemsworth said he's still getting used to the media spotlight – not to mention attention that comes with a high-profile girlfriend: "It's all very new to me," he said.
New and hot. Don't you think these two make a great couple? Much as we are often critical of Miley, it seems like Liam's been a good, grounding influence on her.
Tiger Woods is a Dirty Cheapskate, Mistresses Say
Real, concocted or somewhere in between, information about Tiger Woods' affairs has been trickling out for months ever since his sordid double life was exposed.
But Mark Seal's article in the new Vanity Fair takes the examination into the golfer's shady dalliances to a new level with interviews from four of Tiger's women.
VF explores how the world's greatest and most famous athlete got to such a reckless, shamelessly addicted and confused point in his life. Excerpts below ...
A cheapskate
With many of his mistresses, Woods was allegedly exceedingly cheap. Mindy Lawton says the only thing he ever bought for her was a chicken wrap from Subway.
Tiger and Jamie Jungers broke it off, the mistress claims, when he refused to help her financially. Of the women interviewed, Woods spent money on only one:
Loredana Jolie Ferriolo (above), a Playboy model and hooker he met through madam Michelle Braun, went on $15,000 shopping sprees and charged everything to him.
Guess when you're paying for the sex anyway ...
A degenerate gambler
Woods’ preferred place to stay in Las Vegas was the Mansion at the MGM Grand, where a one-bedroom suite costs $5,000 per night and he'd gamble in the exclusive VIP casino nearby. According to a source known as Robin Hood 702:
“Sometimes the only people were me, Tiger Woods, and Michael Jordan. Each of us sat at a private table and played big. Tiger plays big. Up to 30 grand a hand … when you’re playing splits and doubles, you can have 150 grand on one hand.”
Jesse James Nazi Photo: Real and Ridiculous
No wonder Jesse James was so into Michelle McGee.
Sandra Bullock's cheating husband and his mistress apparently shared more than bodily fluids an interest in tattoos - they both love some Nazi paraphernalia.
A now-infamous Michelle McGee Nazi photo spread surfaced around the time she outed James' affair with her. Now a Nazi picture of Jesse has been unearthed.
It's not pretty, either, even as Nazi pics go.
Wow. As if Jesse James' image weren't tarnished enough ...
Wearing a Waffen SS visor and striking the Hitler "sleg heil" salute, it's clearly Jesse James in the photo, published by Us and taken roughly two years ago.
It's unclear where it was taken, but there looks to be a replica of an plane used by famed German WWI pilot Manfred von Richthofen, a.k.a. The Red Baron.
So is Jesse James a white supremacist? Probably not. But on the list of things that are hard to put a positive spin on, posing as Hitler ranks pretty high.
We're sure Sandra Bullock's divorce lawyer will have a field day with this picture. Think Jesse, who just checked into rehab, can get treatment for Nazism?
Source: Angelina Jolie is a Psycho, Self-Centered Control Freak Who Likes When Children Cry
Just in case you thought you knew the real Angelina Jolie ... you totally don't. The humanitarian actress is actually a pompous bitch and a raging psycho!
At least according to In Touch, which quotes Brangelina's former bodyguard, supposedly, in "exposing" the "hidden truth" about the controversial star.
And we're talking worse than staging photo ops.
“In my opinion, the real Angelina is self-centered and a control freak," the dude says. "She has no patience at all. She doesn’t do things out of kindness."
"And she’s totally psycho.”
Well, there you have it, fans. Brad Pitt really needs to run for his life and back into the arms of Jennifer Aniston as soon as humanly possible ... OR ELSE!
Angelina Jolie likes when the kids cry. Does she also kick dogs?
“Angelina has a a private and a public persona,” continues the former bodyguard, who for "security reasons" chooses only to be identified by his first name, Bill.
How far does she take these supposed mind games?
"She screams and yells a lot, then walks away,” Bill says. “She will disappear into her suite for hours,” leaving staffers - and Brad - to deal with her children."
"She would punish them with silence. I think she could be abusive at times in a mental way," he adds, even "giggling when one of her kids starts crying."
The guy says that while Brangelina used to have “a lot of laughing and fun” and “spontaneous sex,” now the couple often sleeps in separate bedrooms.
Shame. But it makes sense. You probably have to distance yourself from the maniac sometimes if you're Brad Pitt. One man can only deal with so much.
