exactly pak31...the parents need to talk to their kids, parents ARE the key.
people need to really think about whom they choose to look up to and use as a role model for their children.
Take some responsibility for your own actions, and your own children. As a parent, YOU should be the role model they look up to...
kids shouldn't be watching shows like gossip girl if they are that impressionable...teach your children to be independent thinkers who have self-confidence and self love, then they are less likely to be so easily influenced by the examples of others.
If your children are taught to be confident and have good morals and values, they will behave accordingly....they won't need sports figures or celebrities as role models if they are taught to believe in themselves and work hard at being a good person.
How about telling your kids to read a book, instead of watching gossip girl. Throw the TV out the window, all the celebrities say they don't allow their kids to watch TV.

All I can say is who would want this foul mouthed, cigarette smoking girl as a role model?? Just her attitude alone sucks. I never talked like that when I was her age. She already has turned me off. I do believe that when you become famous, you do have to understand that being watched and admired comes with the territory. If you really care about your fans, you would act like a lady etc. So I think by the way she's talking, she doesn't give a darn about the fans. So parents need to talk to their kids and tell them what is right and what is wrong. Parents are the key here.

What about all the other so called role models such as Politicians /Lindsay Lohan / Rock bands etc. I have seen much worse behavior than this young ladies. After all is said and done who put her on this pedestal? The people did right. Based on the current trend America seems to reward bad behavior just look at all the bail outs and bonuses being handed out.

no, there is no responsibility...she is not a role model, thats not her job. she is an actress in a tv show that generally speaking does not provide good role models for young girls or boys.
if you let your child watch gossip girl, i would tend to say that you don't really care what influences your children are exposed to...so then why care what the actors do in their off time?
are your children watching these gossip websites that make a point of photographing stars smoking?
I would say that the gossip websites and magazines should bear some responsibility for posting these images of stars smoking...why show it? regardless of the fact that you are saying its bad, the people seeing the pictures, and who are weak minded enough to be influenced by hollywood's examples, will be negatively influenced by them.
i would never have known that taylor momsen smokes unless it had been posted here. so thank you for informing me that some teenaged celeb smokes...like i care.
