When Adam realized that he was responsible for the way his life would go he put FIERCE energy out into the universe in order to achieve his dreams. Have you ever heard 'Beware of what you wish for'? He put in so much energy that the universe responded in unexpected and reverberating ways, some of which he was and some of which he wasn't prepared for, and certain people (I am among them) are responding to some of that energy. It's an almost irresistable pull. It's not that we are coddling and protecting him, it's that a slur on him is like one on us. Can't help it. I am a child of the universe...

I can't believe your making such a huge deal about this. I think Adam is correct, i personally dislike susan boyle music. By the way I love his music and i really think he's aloud his opinion. Why is it so important whether he enjoys her music anyway, she isn't the most important person in the world. Why don't we get along with our lives then waste our time on this anyway? I'm sure now i'll be critizied for saying this.

I only meant it's ok not to like the things people do, but you don't have to hate the person. I'm not saying Adam is a sinner, that's not my business. I just meant that people don't have to be so extreme with their hate for him just because they don't happen to like what he does. Like with my son, I don't always like the things he does, but I still love him.

@ConspiracyTheory: I'm sorry, that didn't come out the way I meant it. I have nothing against homosexuals, but I have to admit that I don't relate to it. I don't judge it, I just don't relate. Does that make sense? Hard to explain.
When I referred to homosexuality as being morally bankrupt, I was only referring to it as the "haters" refer to it...as a sin. They like to think that it is the ugliest sin in the world, but "sin" is sin. So if they think homosexuality is a sin, I was merely trying to make them understand that hatred and judgement are also sins. I think Adam is a beautiful person, his sexual preference doesn't matter to me. And by beautiful, I'm not just referring to his looks. I'm 45 years old, he could be my son and I would be proud to have a son like him. He has a beautiful heart. No Matt, you're right, he didn't apologize. In fact he said he didn't feel like he had done anything wrong. Personally, I wish he would have apologized, but that's just me. There is no denying that Adam lives a very differnt lifestyle than that of "middle America". I'm not saying that I agree with his lifestyle, just that I don't understand the extreme hate that is being heaped on him. I'm not an expert in "criminal psychology" or the mind of a pedophile, but I'm sure if you researched it, you would find no connection between someone "looking and acting like a flamer" or being homosexual and pedophiles. @ Matt: This article has nothing to do with Adam's AMA performance!! Hasn't he already been persecuted enough for that and it was only 1 performance. All his performances after that one were ok, were they not? He made a mistake and he corrected it, but you and all the other Adam haters still choose to focus on it and attack him for it. You have always been fair and balanced when it come to Adam. I appreciate you detailed take on Mr. Lambert. As a fan though not all of us take offense to legitimate critiques of him. You are right he is human and will make mistakes or say things that may be a little insensitive. Please keep being the fair reporters that you are. Is Adam a Saint. God No! Is he evil incarnate. Absolute not. He is a human being who really has a good character and I think that you express that in your article on him. Including this one. One small point. Not all his fans are so defensive. Sorry, but you cannot rip into Lambert fans and get a pass for giving a pass to the bigots. If the issue is that fans are overzealous in their defense, then why aren't you also writing a column chastising the bigots for their overzealousness?
Moreover, the notion that ignoring hate will lead to its demise is, at best, foolish. At worst, it is complicit because allowing hate to flourish unchecked leads to the haters feeling empowered and therefore to escalation, which is exactly what happens when moderators allow bigoted hate speech to run free without consequences.
For example, my nephew is in high school in a small midwestern, conservative town. All year long in Advanced French a boy has taken every possible opportunity to make homophobic remarks on every possible topic. The teacher ignored him using the mistaken notion that not giving him attention would make him stop. I'm sure he said something close to what they printed, but I am almost positive they embellished on his words, putting a slightly different spin on it. @HILTON HATER THANK YOU for this follow-up article and your continuing comments. As an older ADAM fan I sort of feel like a MOM too but ADAM brought me back to music after many years. I adore him not only for his talent but his kind nature, good deeds, intelligence and honesty (although it could use a filter). Yesterday as I read the 1,900 comments on MSN site I sat at my desk and cried, feeling so helpless to the hate and bigotry I read without even being able to insert a positive comment. Thanks to the support of all the real fans for all this LOVE and kindness hopefully it will heal some of the wounds from the narrow-minded, hateful people from yesterday. GO ADAM "you are loved".

I think as devoted fans of Adam, we realize that there are some haters out there who do spread rumors and lies in their reporting. That makes us feel like it is our duty to jump to Adam's defense. I know he is plenty strong and capable of handling the media but we are so passionate that we can't help ourselves. I have found myself agreeing with Adam's opinions and ideas so often that it is even more personal when he is ripped apart. We take it personally because what he is saying may very well be exactly what many of us are thinking.

I have no problem with your article about Adam. What I have a problem with is the people who comment on these articles. Their hate towards Adam is VERY REAL and they take any chance they can to spew their vile words at him. The fact that you are writing a 2nd article to chastize Adam's fans is bewildering to me!!! I think it would be more appropriate if you would do an article that chastizes Adam's haters!!! If you would take the time to look at the comments made on the Yahoo, Earsucker, Msn, etc. articles you would see why his fans are so angry!! Their comments make me fearful for Adam's life. I don't understand why it is allowed. Yes people have the right to hate him, but alot of their comments are completely inappropriate and should be deleted.
