Chris Henry has passed away as a result of the grave injuries he sustained after falling out of the back of a moving pickup truck Wednesday.
He was in critical condition last night, but Charlotte-Mecklenbruck, N.C., police have confirmed that Chris Henry is dead as of 6:36 a.m. EST.
The NFL star was just 26.
Police believe the wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals jumped into the back of the truck in an attempt to stop his fiancee, Loleini Tonga, from leaving a "domestic situation" at her parents' home in North Carolina.
At some point, Henry fell out of the truck, presumably at a high speed if he did not survive. He was rushed to a hospital but did not make it.
Authorities are still investigating the accident.
R.I.P. Chris Henry (1983-2009).
Earlier yesterday, everything seemed right in Henry's world. Loleini Tonga had updated her MySpace page, writing about how she just "put deposIt down 4 weDDing piCs" and "Paid 4 ouR riNgs" in advance of her upcoming wedding to Chris.
The accident ensued mere hours later. More details as the story develops ...
