Chris Golightly: American Idol Hopeful
So it begins.
While we're still two weeks away from the January 12 premiere of American Idol, THG has uncovered an early contestant to keep an eye on: Chris Golightly.
The Justin Guarini (and Sideshow Bob) lookalike is featured in a new commercial for season nine. We can confirm that he receives a golden ticket to Hollywood and that he has a great voice.
Why else might Golightly advance far on Idol? Two words: great backstory.
The singer refers to himself as "Orphan" because, well, he actually is one. Golightly says he was raised in various foster homes and turned to music when he was six because he could tell his story through singing. Might that story conclude with an American Idol title?
It's a tad early to know for sure, but check out snippets of his audition below...
** UPDATE: Sources reveal that Golightly has advanced to the final 24 on season nine.

This is for those of you calling Chris a con artist and a liar.
How many of you were raised without the warmth and love of mother or father...Can you even imagine how that must feel! no one to give a crap about Santas and Easter bunnies and all the fantasies children should be experiencing! Sounds to me like he will do anything to fight for his life. It is a good thing because no one else has fought for him.
I don't even know him but I can empathise with his lifes condition.
Good luck to you son.

Chris, youre the "American Idiot" here. Please dont think that Im trying to insult you either. BUT, you knew the rules about "lying". Regardless of the fact that your contract expired a month prior to your American Idol debut. You should consider yourself very lucky that you "HAD" a record contract in the first place. I think if you are as good as you think you are, if you had a record contract once, then Im sure you can do it again. Its better for that other kid who got your spot in the top 24 to now get his chance at a record contract. In terms of the American Idol thing, you had your chance. Hopefully for you, you can get another record contract and with all of the publicity you are getting , Im sure you wont have a problem getting noticed by a record label, just make sure you take full advantage of this current "buzz" that surrounds you. Its only fair that another, un-signed singer gets his chance on American Idol, and gets the spot that you had. Now, for the most important point:

It's pretty messed up. He didnt lie about his past just because he didn't tell the judges he was out of contrast and probably didnt think about it. Its messed up they disqualified him when he had proof he was out of contract! its not fair they need to give him the spot he earned! he is so talented and he has had a hard life and for once he has something to be proud of He deserves his spot back. He was picked over that other guy for a reason!

So much for being a positive inspiration...ah ha!! he has been disqualified people!!
for hiding info about his past...hahahahahaa
thats what u get when u don't come clean

Chris is an inspiration to others because he has learned to live without the love of a family & has managed to stay positive and strong and follow his dreams regardless! Even if life may look insurmountable at times full of obstacles in his path he stays strong his past does not stop him from looking to a bright future. Some people allow themselves to be a victim of circumstance and adversity and have alot of negative things to say, while others persevere and reach their dreams with will power, hard work and determination. With love and support anyone can overcome lifes road bumps,w/ love and support one can make “Make Dreams Come True.” I never forget Winton Churchill’s motto: “Never, never give up!” This is all that matters at this point so im showing some love and support!! GO CHRIS Do YOUR THANG!! were all behind you! Nothing else matters the past is history the future is a gift that is why its called the present!
Have a positive week overcoming the adve

As far as the auditions are concerned, it only gets the contestants to Hollywood. From that point, the judges seek carefully as to who has what it takes to be the next American Idol. Unfortunately, it comes down to the top 12. Once the top 12 is selected, it is up to the viewers who will get an opportunity to vote for the one in becoming the 'Real Deal'.
