ESPN, I have heard enough of your absolutely Ridiculous actions toward Bob Griese. Im done with you. If you think what Bob Griese said is offensive I dont think you know what that word really means. Listen to the "Speed" channel and look how Kenny Wallace, Jimmy Spencer and John Roberts pick on Montoya about his accent. You see ESPN, the "Speed" channel has a sense of humor as well as Montoya which you seriously need to get. Are you that afraid of Sharpton. Do us all a favor and grow some B@!!s ESPN !!!!!!!!!!

  2. Maxkackle

Come on Bob! Get it right! Everyone knows that Juan Pablo Montoya likes french food.....I'm sure he had his fill of bugars during the race

  3. Gene Adams

    What a f------ joke ESPN is !!!

  4. Dennis

It's out of control people! Get over it! That is SO rediculous!

  5. tom

Political correctness is a complete joke, who cares what he said waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Why the controversy? The taco is an AMERICAN dish.

We must all keep in mind that Mr Griese is a sports analyst and he has a certian level of responsibilty to his profession and to his employer. I am sure that there are Human Resource guidleines that he and other analysts must follow. National TV is not an avenue for such behavior. I agree with the punishment.

Montoya is the one to make this right. If he is anything but a racist, he would say, "Bob, your comment was funny and I appreciate anyone making a comment about me." The ESPN powers that be must have religious fanatics calling the shots.

  10. carm

LOL! I think Montoya found it funny and accepted his apology. As a black woman, I am tired of people getting fired for making jokes. This is America! you can tell there was no ill-intent in his comments and he immediately apologized. they probably only suspended him because sponsors got pissed. it all comes down to money.

  11. jeff sheriff

    ESPN SUCKS

  12. CommonSense

If he'd said Dario Franchitti is probably out having some haggis would there be an uproar?

You know when Fuzzy Zoeller made the comment about Tiger Woods and fried chicken the tone of his voice and look on his face indicated that he was making a racial slur. You just knew.

Listening to this comment by Griese...I didn't really get that.

  13. copeyd

If this is all we're about, shame on us. Griese has never been a hate monger. Whoever that little Montoya boy is, I'm sure he's a good man. I'm sorry if he's offended, although he hasn't said so. Mr. Montoya (and I'm sorry if I misspelled your name) I think you are above all this. It's the rest of the world to fight about. Keep doing what you are doing and be good at it. You will surely supplant any ethnic prejudice. God bless you.

What are we coming to? What is the good life about if we can't joke a little about ourselves or others. Maybe not call him a wet back or a burro. But Out having a taco ????. I don't like ESPN anyhow.

  15. Jonezen

Hold on...I do believe I hear Rev. Al Sharptons big mouth!!! I am surprised that Rev. Al Sharpton and the rest of his "Race pot stirrers" are not up in arms screaming and demanding ESPN "FIRE Bob Griese... OH I forgot Juan Pablo Montoya isnt black. Proof once again that Rev. Al Sharpton doesnt care about the rainbow of races, just the black race.

Right or wrong folks??????? where is Al if he cares so much for equal treatment and equal justice for the minority where is he??????????????????

Remember when Fuzzy Zeller made a comment about Tiger Woods several year ago, and how graciously Woods dealt with it? Wouldn't it be nice if all good deal with offhand comments like that, in which no real harm was meant?

  17. thedog without a mask

who cares he is not mexican he is Colombian, we need to stop wearing our feelings on our cuff.

  18. marshall morgan

I think the people that are doing the suspending are the trouble makers and trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. This didn't bother anyone but the producers that should be ashamed of suspending a man for one week for no more than Bob said. Your just trying to get attention and trying to make yourselves look like some kind of saviors. Believe me , your nothing but trouble makers

  19. marco rosa

even mexicans make fun of mexicans, come on man.i mean, omhbres

  20. chknbzrd

Why the fuss , Nascar and ESPN ain't nothing but candy asses

  21. Miami Vice

Rather he said "eating a taco" than "smoking a joint" Don't you think (colombian ?)

  22. Dave

ESPN turned a non-issue into an issue by their overreaction to a harmless comment that should not offend anyone. Society has become too sensitive and needs to toughen up.

  23. Ian Smith

The Idiot brigade strikes again. Where will it all end? Has free speech become a thing of the past? Is sensitivity on overload?

  24. Joan

Mr. Gump is indeed right. Get off of all the bs. Its time you all grow up and recognize we all say things with no malice intent...
I am giving ESPN a one year suspension also. NO MORE ESPN in this house.

  25. Sherry Glenn

When are we going to quit being so overly sensitive. My goodness, if you can't even have a good natured laugh then why bother having an announcer at all. Next they will tell us that the viewer also must be politically correct or they will send us to our room without supper.
