Stephanie Birkitt: Banned From Late Show Set
Stephanie Birkitt, the woman at the center of the David Letterman sex and blackmail scandal, has been banned from New York City's Ed Sullivan Theater.
The 34-year-old former aide, who appeared on the Late Show numerous times in comedy bits, was later offered a job by Dave as his personal attorney.
She and Letterman had a sexual affair of indeterminate length.
It was Robert Halderman - the ex-boyfriend of Stephanie Birkitt - who found out about the pair's secret relationship and then allegedly threatened to release the scandalous information unless Letterman forked over $2 million.
Halderman has been arrested for this crime but is free on bail.
CBS is aware of Stephanie Birkitt's ban from David Letterman's set.
Birkitt, who was allegedly cheating on Robert "Joe" Halderman - Letterman's accused extortionist - with the Late Show host, wrote all about it in her private diary.
She also wrote Dave some "trashy" love letters that will embarrass them both if and when they become public, according to a report in the New York Daily News.
While David Letterman's wife, Regina Lasko, was not married to him until earlier this year, the two have a son, born in 2004, and had been together for 20 years.
Letterman apologized on air to Regina and his staff Monday night.

I think Letterman's WIFE deserves to have the little tramp banned from the set.

I want to know how her diary can be used without her permission, that should be a privacy issue with this Halderman copying it and what have you. I would also like to know how many affairs Halderman had. Dave shouldn't have done it, but Stephanie evidentally liked the affair, so there are two sides here, there was no rape.

Julie Chen is just as big a scum bag, how come no one discusses what SHE did? She broke up CBS President Les Moonves’ 24 year marriage and married him herself. (Talk about serious job security.) We need to step back and remember that all women are not poor innocent victims in situations like this.
Come on people…you know the types. We’ve seen these saucy vamps in action, and how disgusted do we get, because we can clearly see what’s happening, but can’t do a damn thing about it? Some of these women are very conniving and savvy man eaters, and not naïve muppets who just fall into these men’s laps. No WAY are women in this industry naive. Women can be very vindictive, and make devious, very calculated efforts to get next to these men (their relationship/marriage and family be damned), especially if they think their careers will benefit from it. And men are often times quite oblivious to their true intentions and machinations. SOMEtimes, they think they’re just ‘get

WHAT ABOUT HALDERMAN ??? IS HE BANNED TOO ??? HE'S THE "ALLEDGED" CRIMINAL !!!! & A STUPID ONE AT THAT !!!
THE PRESS IS GIVING WAY TO MUCH ATTENTION TO A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TWO CONSENTING ADULTS & NOT ENOUGH, ON THE SCUMBAG WHO "ALLEDGEDLY" ATTEMTED TO EXTORT 2 MILLION $ FROM LETTERMAN, BASED ON INFO HE OBTAINED FROM READING STEPANIES DIARY !!!! HE SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH BURGLARY AS WELL ...HE IS NO BETTER THAN MADOFF [in my opinion]
I DON'T BELIEVE THEY [DAVID & STEPHANIE] COMMITED A CRIME , WHETHER OR NOT THEIR RELATIONSHIP WAS MORALLY RIGHT or WRONG ???? WELL,THATS SOMETHING THEY WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEMSELVES. IT'S CERTAINLY NOT FOR ME, OR THE PRESS TO JUDGE.

WEll, this is a dissappointing situation......The show with Steve Martin and Martin Short was one of the BEST late night shows I've seen in ages. Like a nice visit amoung friends, like that we've lost with Johnny Carson. At least Letterman doesn't feel that he needs to compete and one up his guests like conan.
