Kristen Stewart is a major celebrity, on the verge of the A list, starring in a major movie franchise and dating Robert Pattinson.

She shouuld be on top of the world, right? Not exactly.

In a conversation with Interview magazine, the actress explains why life in the spotlight is often more stressful than enjoyable.

"All I'm thinking of is the fact that everything I say is going to be criticized; not criticized, just evaluated and analyzed. I don't leave my hotel room. I don't talk to anybody about my personal life, and maybe that perpetuates it, too. But it's really important to own what you want to own and keep it to yourself."

Another drawback of stardom?

It starts to define who you are, as Kristen explains:

"The sad thing is that I feel so boring because Twilght is literally how every conversation I have these days begins - whether it's someone I'm meeting for the first time or someone I just haven't seen in a while."

This isn't entirely true, of course. Some people wanna know how Stewart is dealing with her totally made-up pregnancy.

As for her role in the Twilight Saga, Kristen is both proud of it and worried about it. She said:

“As much as I’m proud of that movie and I do like it, I feel like maybe I brought too much of myself to the character. I feel like I really know Bella now. But most readers feel like they know Bella because it’s a first-person narrative."

It's now public knowledge that David Letterman carried on an affair with a female staffer. The talk show host himself admitted this last night.

To her horror, that employee has now been identified as Stephanie Birkitt.

Considered one of Dave's most trusted staffers, Birkitt earned a degree from Wake Forest University in 1997; worked at 48 Hours upon graduation (where she first met Letterman's alleged extortioner, Robert Halderman); and joined the The Late Show months later.

She actually appeared on air at times, most notably in sketches such as“ Know Your Current Events,” as seen below. Fast forward to the 3:15 mark to watch Birkitt (referred to as "Vicki) interact with Dave and an audience member:

Reportedly, Stephanie developed a sexual relationship with Letterman that ended in 2003, prior to the birth of his son, Harry. She was living with Halderman at the time.

In 2004, in an interview with The Fort Worth Star Telegram, Birkitt said of her boss:

“He’s just playful. We play catch sometimes in the office, and we all go to screenings together. We eat food together, we sit around and watch TV together and goof on people. And he teases me in real life, too, but I give it back a lot more in real life.”

Opinions are flying in about David Letterman's dalliances with Stephanie Birkitt. What's yours?

No matter how you felt about David Letterman prior to his role in a recent extortion plot, or how you feel about him now that he's admitted to an affair with a staffer, we can all agree on one thing:

The talk show host's public admission was gripping television.

Countless celebrities have been caught in sex scandals; but we can't recall a single one that sat for 10 minutes in front of the camera and a stunned studio audience - as the host of a comedic program, no less - and divulged the details of his affair in such a manner.

We're not condoning Letterman's behavior, nor are we condemning it. We're simply struck by how unique this situation is.

Over the next few days, it's safe to assume Letterman's behavior will be scrutinized by the media, fans and detractors. There will likely be two, contrasting schools of thought regarding his actions, summed up below:

Anti-Dave: He's a liar and a hypocrite. He's made numerous jokes over the years about cheating politicians, and he's no better than any of them. Moreover, he slept with an Stephanie Birkitt, an underling, raising questions of sexual harassment at work.

Pro-Dave: He's a comedian. His job is to make us laugh, not to set some paradigm of moral behavior. From Michael Jordan to Bill Clinton to Brad Pitt, the number of celebrities that have had affairs might outweigh those that have not. Moreover, Letterman's cantankerous, self-important reputation was well-known for years. Everyone familiar with him agrees that his heart attack in 2000 and the birth of his son in 2004 truly changed Dave for the better; the infidelity took place prior to the latter event.

The Hollywood Gossip staff members are open fans of Letterman, and we can't deny this story soils his reputation a bit in our eyes.

However, as mentioned above, if we were to judge every famous person that cheated on his/her significant other, we'd scarcely have time for anything else. The fact that Letterman stared into the camera and owned up to his behavior - not because he had a book to sell, nor because he owes his viewers any detail about his personal lie - does say something about the man.

Sit on your high horse if you wish, but Dave has never claimed he's perfect (far, far from it, in fact; self-deprecation is a major part of his act). Over the past few years, this upsetting admission included, he's connected with viewers in more human ways that maybe any other person on TV. His affair is between him and Regina Lasko and no one else.

That's how we feel about the story. What about YOU? Leave a comment. Let us know.

The fact that John Edwards cheated on wife, and almost definitely fathered a son with Rielle Hunter, would be reason enough for Elizabeth Edwards to leave her husband.

But the scorned better half of the former Presidential candidate has stood by her man... until now, sources indicate.

The National Enquirer, which actually broke the Hunter affair last year, claims Edwards cheated on his wife with multiple women; and Elizabeth - who is battling Stage 4 breast cancer - has had enough.

"Elizabeth had always sworn she wouldn't divorce John," an insider told the tabloid. "But every person has a breaking point, and Elizabeth's friends believe she's reached hers.. [she] made it clear to John that she will take him for everything he's got. She will divorce him and claim their $53 million fortune."

The Edwards

This isn't the first time a separation between the previously adored couple has been reported. In August, magazines actually claimed John was moving in with Rielle, an allegation that seems outlandish, even for this depressing, sordid story.

As for what has truly set Elizabeth off, friends claim she's read portions of the tell-all by Andrew Young - the campaign aide that Edwards allegedly paid off to claim paternity of Hunter's child - and was sickened by what she learned.

"Elizabeth was read portions of Young's book proposal, and she flipped out," said the source. "What really pushed her over the edge is Young's allegation that John had other affairs with women on the campaign trail."

This insider says Elizabeth is prepared to expose all of her husband's secrets in court. Stay tuned. This story is far from over.

Hours after his lawyer painted him as a victim and helped shut down production on TLC's Kate Plus 8, Jon Gosselin sat with Larry King on CNN last night.

The attention-starved reality star claimed he was gonna quit the show before he was fired; and that his legal maneuvering to get it off the air has nothing at all to do with the fact he won't be receiving paychecks anymore from the program.

Anyone that believes these tales must also believe Robert Halderman was only looking out for David Letterman's best interests.

Publicity Hound

Here's a summary of what the douchebag known as Jon Gosselin had to say:

On the TLC series that made him famous: “It’s not healthy for my kids to be on the show. It’s my right as a parent and as a father of my kids to determine whether the show is good for my family. I don’t think it’s healthy for them because we’re going through a divorce right now. I don’t think it should be televised and I think my kids should be taken off the show.”

On changing who he is: “I had an epiphany one day. I looked in the mirror and I said, ‘I don’t want to be this person anymore.’”

On saying he despises Kate Gosselin: “I’ve made mistakes, I’ve learned form my mistakes, I regret things. I have to move forward... I really didn’t mean despise. I regret saying that word. I was very emotional... sometimes you just say things you can’t really mean.”

It's unclear if Kanye West truly felt bad about his interruption of Taylor Swift at last month's Video Music Awards - but he likely will now.

The rapper's much-publicized tour with Lady GaGa has been canceled, as reports indicate ticket sales were lagging. One can only surmise this was due to VMA backlash directed at West.

Sources also claim Kanye and GaGa's representatives got along with each other worse than Jon and Kate Gosselin, while other insiders say the female singer was the one to pull the plug on the planned concerts.

She'll likely set up dates in smaller venues now, free from the Kanye drama.

Fans that had bought tickets to the joint performances can get a refund.

On last night's installment of The Late Show with David Letterman, the host turned serious during a shocking admission to his studio audience.

Letterman opened up about a $2 million extortion plot against him, in which someone dropped off a package three weeks ago that threatened to expose the comedian's affair with female co-workers. A note in the package read:

"I know that you do some terrible, terrible things - and I can prove you do these terrible things."

As cameras rolled, Letterman said he chose to take action: "This morning, I did something I've never done in my life. I had to go downtown and testify before a grand jury.. I had to tell them all of the creepy things that I had done... The creepy stuff was that I have had sex with women who work for me on this show."

Late Show Host

Letterman has a 5-year-old son, Harry, with Regina Lasko, the woman with whom he's been for 23 years and married earlier this year.

Incredibly, the host said he took part in a sting operation against the blackmailer. Letterman's lawyers actually met the man, handed over a counterfeit $2 million check and the man was arrested on Thursday.

Reports indicate the culprit is Robert Halderman, a producer for 48 Hours, who lived with the staffer - Stephanie Birkitt - with whom Letterman slept. (The incident allegedly happened prior to Harry's birth and prior to Dave's marriage.)

After his explanation of events, Letterman said: "I don't plan to say much more on this particular topic."

Follow this article's jump to watch a clip of Dave admit to sex with women on the show and then crack a joke about it, as the audience is clearly confused about how to react to this news.

It's official: there will be a third Transformers movie.

Despite critical lambasting and lukewarm audience reaction, there was never really any doubt that another film in this franchise would be made.

Now, director Michael Bay has announced the movie's release date on his blog, penning:

We have a great Transformers 3 story. The release date is now July 1st, 2011. Not 2012. Today is Day One. This morning started with an ILM meeting for five hours in San Francisco. Currently I’m flying with writer Ehren Kruger to Rhode Island to talk to Hasbro about new characters.

One key character will return, however: Bay went out of his way to welcome Megan Fox back into the role of Mikaela Banes. There's been tension between director and actress since she compared him to Hitler. He wrote:

Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture. Please consult your Physician when working under my direction because some side effects can occur, such as mild dizziness, intense nausea, suicidal tendencies, depression, minor chest hair growth, random internal hemorrhaging and inability to sleep.

As some directors may be hazardous to your health, please consult your Doctor to determine if this is right for you.

Are you excited for Transformers 3?

Robert Pattinson might play a vampire on the big screen, but a new co-star of his says the actor is more like a prisoner.

Asked about the Twilight Saga hunk, British stud muffin Jack Huston - who plays Royce King II in Eclipse - says Pattinson never really leaves his Vancouver hotel room, lest he open himself up to crazed fans and photographers.

“I don’t think he gets to hang out with many people because he’s sort of jailed to his room,” said Huston. “He can’t leave without being follow by a hundred people."

Fortunately, Kristen Stewart can come to Robert; and that's really all he seems to need these days.

Robert Pattinson is like a prisoner, a co-star says. A well-paid, handsome, talented, beloved prisoner, that is!

Kourtney Kardashian is so special.

On Monday, she Tweeted the following, incredible news: "My baby is moving like crazy! Going to try and relax and sleep."

Kards on the Karpet

Thank goodness she alerted followers to that crucial information, but wouldn't it actually be more newsworthy if the child was NOT moving at this point in her pregnancy?

Kourtney Kardashian: Pregnant, Tweeting, crying out for attention.

Meanwhile, shady baby daddy Scott Disick is continuing to say whatever will make him sound like a responsible father-to-be.

"We're home every night looking at baby books and baby magazines," he told Us Weekly. "I just want to stay home with her, enjoy her company, look at her stomach and be with her."

And speak to any celebrity gossip tabloid that calls, of course.
