The NFL's Kansas City Chiefs have barred star running back Larry Johnson from all team activities as the club and league look into comments he made Monday.
In telling reporters to get away from him, Johnson used a slur that referred to gays. He used the same slur on Twitter in an exchange with one of his followers.
A day later, he used a gay slur again as he brushed off reporters and told them he had no comment, according to the Kansas City Star, which recorded this.
He has also posted demeaning remarks about Coach Todd Haley, questioning his authority. Yeesh. Now that's a lot worse than any Bob Griese taco comment.
Larry Johnson eludes a tackler. And basic social decency.
In a statement released through his agent, Johnson apologized for his remarks, though in the list of people to whom he apologized, he did not mention gays.
Last season, Herman Edwards, who was the Chiefs’ coach, benched Larry Johnson for three games for a then-unspecified violation of the team's rules.
Commissioner Roger Goodell suspended him for a fourth game for violating the NFL player-conduct policy in connection with incidents involving women in bars.
Johnson, who has 358 yards on 132 rushes and no touchdowns in 2009, was sentenced to two years’ probation after pleading guilty todisturbing the peace.
We'll see if he takes the field anytime soon this year.

Anyone that has heard of Larry Johnson knows that he is an idiot. The thing that I don't understand is that he was twittering and should have the freedom to call anyone anything that he wants.
This is America not 1950 Russia like Obama would like to make it.

Using Twitter, he should be able to say whatever he wants. If you don't like it, don't read it. Repeating it in front of the media and rolling cameras is an abuse of his stature and he should have known better. My thing, though, is that I'm sick and tired of hearing about how "this" group and "that" group and "those" people are always finding SOMETHING to get offended about. Geezus-frickin-christmas...grow up already and quit wearing your feelings on your sleeve like a bunch of sissy cry babies!!

Black people can say the "N" word and get away with it. Gays can use gay slurs and get away with it. Come on Johnson, just admit you're gay and that it's just something gays say to each other, and it's being blown out of proportion.

The whole buzz about being politically correct is getting ridiclious. You can not say Blind anymore. It is visual impaired I think. What was wrong with blind? It is just a word. Heck if a person cannot see they are blind. I did not know what context the gay slur was made in. But if a person is not heterosexual. Then what is wrong with saying he is homosexual, gay or whatever word is in flavor now?

So tired of crap about this Larry Johnson guy. The world does indeed have public assholes could be a title over "Hellion"'s comment above. WTF? SO I GUESS TWITTERING GIVES EVERYONE THE RIGHT TO SLANDER ANYONE AND PROPOGATE HATE FEELINGS BECAUSE THIS IS AMERICA? I'll stop there and just ask that entity to please elaborate/explain or better yet perhaps do NOT if the same prattle is going to emerge from their very narrow thinking. OMG that's the scariest comment I've ever seen, let alone what falls from Johnson's mouth when it opens.
Just try growing up with Matthew Shepard's relatives and friends, then let's have a calm debate the subject of "slurs" Thanks.
