I did understand why she'd be reluctant to divorce since it would cause such trauma to her younger children when they will eventually have to face her absence.
But since John is probably the father of the hootchie's child and he may well marry her later I believe Elizabeth should indeed divorce him and secure her half of their assets for her own biological children. He can take care of his mistress & child plus any future spawn with whatever remains.
John Edwards is the scum of the earth.

Why would anyone call the wife names? Coward, etc.- not nice, the lady has kids, and cancer.
Elizabeth's no coward, she's one tough lady. It was extremely funny how she slammed that Rielle slut publicly while her husband stood there looking like a limp dick. It will be even funnier when she takes all the money.
John shouldn't be in a position of trust of any kind. Someone who stabs their supposed nearest and dearest in the back like he did to her will stab anybody in the back. He belongs with Rielle, his own kind. Won't she be surprised when she gets stupid John but not his money?

She's been dealing with cancer for a while, she probably didn't have the strength to deal with a divorce on top of the chemotherapy. It's just sad. I feel bad for her. It's humiliating.

I don't think Elizabeth is a saint -- she's still a very wealthy woman who 1) doesn't mind having "underlings" to step and fetch for her, and 2) stood before the world and proclaimed John a guy with "family values" even after she knew he'd been behaving like a dirtbag yet again. So I'm not on the Poor Elizabeth Bandwagon just because she has cancer. Lots of wonderful people die of cancer every week. But, I do think she's been stupid not to divorce the dirtbag.

I feel sorry for Elizabeth and her children but for Reille Hunter she is the worst person on this earth. John Edwards is a total loss for the Democratic Party and does not deserve anything. Hope his wife takes him for everything and him and Reille Hunter can live and work like the rest of us. We were very stupid to support him as he was a phony all the way.
