He should practice before singing. I could have strangled him. This is his country and he just lost my respect.

first off, this guys sounds like crap, which signals to me he has to be an autotune wonder in the studio. even if he had remembered the words, this was an embarrassingly atonal and pitchy live vocal. not cool for a highly paid ''singer''. secondly, he is a professional, or is supposed to be. this is not his first time at the rodeo, singing in front of televised or large audiences, so i don't wanna hear no excuses about nerves. you practice, you prepare to make sure that you are ready before taking the stage. many of these so call singers today have no work ethic, or professionalism regarding their craft, and it shows here. and dude - this is the freaking national anthem. a song you should know by heart. no excuses can be made to cover up this embarassing performance. he just needs to do his preparation beforehand a little better, and for god's sake - get somebody who can sing live to sing these type of songs. it still would have been horrible even if he had remembered the words.

sorry, but the voice and everything was pretty bad....he is not much of a live singer is he, and I am not just saying that because he forgot the words.

awww i still love him though ;)

Icon Aretha Franklin forgot the words as have others. Barbara Streisand has such a case of the nerves that she uses a teleprompter for ALL her songs; ones she’s sung for decades. Frank Sinatra used one too. Who cares? Jesse has an awesome voice and did the song justice; ending very strong! It is a hard song to sing with verses written a long time ago. Like trying to sing Shakespere. This young man gives of himself and is from a strong family. It’s actually nice to know that a performer can still get nerves and isn’t just phoning in performances. I am a NASCAR fan and saw it. No biggie. I actually got a laugh when the camera scanned Juan Pablo Montoya and there was this dead-pan expression.
