it's sad that people are not helping her and are trying to hurt her. if it was someone of a different race there would have been an outcry over her treatment and the treatment for people with mental disabilities. A great example of that was Brittney Spears. Shame on those pigs who chose to record her against her will. someone should do that to their mother or sister so they will know how it feels. It's a shame that she probably got beat by the driver for not sitting back and shutting up. I hope she she gets better and stay away from these hood rat losers. i also think that the radio stations should stop making fun of her and makingthe situation worst.

kbaaq, I appreciate the comment concerning the constant upbringing of God. However, my motive of bringing God into this spectrum has only to do with empathy and compassion, seeing how we all have our imperfections. Not with who will or will not receive wrath of God. This about a human being. Their are so many rude, arrogant people in the world today. Many of them are no longer here. Some are the ones you hear about on the news that were just going for a morning jog, when a heartless person comes along and rapes and or kills them. Or how about the person that was trying to better themselves financially by way of higher education that was shot coming home from class. Or perhaps the that arrogant, rude person that cut in line but was killed by a drunk driver on the way home. See, when we hear or read about things happening to people that we never even knew, many of can sympathize, or most importantly empathize. We don't even have to know their background, or personality to feel.

Any other famous celebrity someone would have stepped in and try to help her. It's a shame that no one is giving her help! Whitney always had her mother and family, who has Maia? Sure she doesn't have the celebrity status but if she did I bet she would have been whisked away somewhere to some rehab! Is there not a compassionate soul anymore that can help her? Society has no feelings for anyone and sometimes not even their own. Sometimes I feel we should go and live like pack rats for lack of compassion and symphaty for another. Human life with emotions is getting extinct. What a shame! What happened to love one another? Put yourself or your kids in her shoes. We are human beings with feelings and emotions dammit!!! The guy that she drove off with as well as the guys cousin who was video taping her are horrible people. She repeatedly asked to have the camera taken off of her. He only taped her to humiliate her and that is wrong. The guy she was in the car with was extra wrong because he tried to make it seem as if she sold allow the taping, repeatedly telling her to stop talking to his peoples like that when he should have been the one to deal with his family for disrespecting her. This is horrible and I think she is in the company of people who do not care about her and I hope she truly gets her life back together. So Sad.

The fact of the matter is that every time the media makes comments such as "crack whore", "crack head", etc they are downplaying the seriousness of the situation as it relates to Maia Campbell and other mentally ill minorities. Whether depression, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, etc. Mental Illness is SERIOUS. I read the novel,"72 Hour Hold" by her mother, BeBe Moore Campbell. The main character was based off of her daughter, Maia. Mental illness should not be looked upon with negative stereotypes and off collar "jokes". I am glad that her father and grandmother spoke out. Obviously the men who made the video probably thought that they were doing her more harm than good. In actuality they have done her more good than harm. I hope her family continues to assist her and we as a community really need to help one another. When you see someone doing something wrong, speak out against it. The guy taping this needs to be pressed with charges, he had no right taping her and he did not have her consent during the time of the recording. Further more, the guy doing this....

It's ashame that people kick you when you're down. The guy she was with wasn't any good. If she was with him around his people, then he should have been man enough to look out for her and tell his "nephew" to leave her alone. It's not like she got out of the car and went up to the house acting wild and crazy. She remained in the car and the guy came up and bothered her. Which leave me to believe that was a setup. A setup by both the guy she was with and the guy with the camera. This video was so sad to see. This young woman clearly is in need of someone who cares for her, and not someone who knew her former life as an actress would get them some money. People in this world are so sad, sick & cruel to do this to someone obviously in need of help. Whoever took her there also meant to exploit her for some money and sat there and allowed this ignorant disrespectful loser to push her into making statements that would humiliate her. I will pray for her and hope that someone, maybe LL would come to her rescue. She is not too far gone because she is still with us which means she can be saved. I agree with GG. I first learned of her story while listening to LL Cool J comment on her actions this morning on the Tom Joyner Morning Show. He was aked what he thought..and being a FRIEND..he said he hoped she got HELP and that she shouldn't be judged so harshly and I agree. The man behind the camera..what should he go to jail for? Exploiting a, for lack of a better term, "Crackhead"!! He's a Dopedealer..no one else hangs with "crackheads" except the only people around them..DOPEDEALERS..But of course, people are more focused on her being strung out on video than solving the true problem...Arresting the DEALER!!! People constantly keep making reference to God, and how he's going to deal with the people that are exploiting her. Well that may be true; however, I met Maia Campbell back in the day when she lived in Atlanta as a student at Spellman, and she was as arrogant and as rude as could come in human flesh. I say this to say that God, him/herself, whichever you choose, has a way of humbling people. So for those who want to mention God try not to relegate God's wrath to those who you personally find deserving of such dubious honors. If God is truly just then allow him to decide how and who to bring down, and then raise up. Because in the case of Maia Campbell, it's like gravity: what goes up must eventually come down.

who ever made this film of someone who is obviously in need of desperate help, someone greater then ourselves, is in need of the same kind of help. Let's look at this for a second, where is he at? who are his associates? What's his life style? Where is he going in life? So he found the need to exploit, humiliate, and to expose this persons life style to make his life that has gotten him nowhere so that he could feel better about his. What possible good motive could he have had to do it. She was not out of it too much to know that. Addiction is no joke, trust me. LL made a comment on a radio station this morning concerning the situation that i Thought was something to think about. Everyone has a family member or friend that has been down or is going down this road perhaps even ourselves.
