This is very sad, Hopefully some day she is able to pull it together, I sadly can relate to her story because a close member of my family suffers from the exact same mental illness that she does and we was able to seek help before they cause harm to themselves. It's not too late yet she can still get the help she needs.and she so deserves with that said my deepest prayers go out for her and to her.

It's been said that addiction and/or mental illness will affect everyone of us at some point, whether it's yourself, a friend or family member. The guy filming this will one day learn a hard, bitter lesson. Shame on him for kicking someone when they are down.

Now yall know good, got' damn well I only help white folks!
This girl picked up the rock, picked up the pipe, and picked up that lighter! I have no time to help lowly, black folk who induce these illegal toxins into their bodies!
Besides, helping Whites is more marketable than some D-list crackwhote actor.

The sda thing is people don't understand she is bi-polar. This makes her drug use all the more succeptible to drugs. The weak-azz guy getting in the car with her is just a leech...like his clownish nephews exploiting her. All I can say is after seeing this happen to someone I knew and loved, I bought Bebe Moore Campbell's (Maia Campbells' mother) book..."72 hour hold". Read that and you might look at things through a different perspective.
God bless this girl and all her demons.

Tragedy strikes everyone at some point and time in their life. She has made a decision, and that decision was obviously one that has kicked off an excrutiatingly sad downward spiral. The power to relieve herself of the terrible burder that has become her life is in her hands and hers alone.

I remember hearing about this, and seeing her family's comments in Essence. That is so sad. I remember when her mom died everyone was wondering how she would handle it. I noticed in the video she mentioned "I aint got no mama and I'm looking for my daughter"...sad
Didnt she have a baby by some celebrity before all this happened?
I remember she was in Poetic Justice w/ Tupac, too. Her mom was a good author and kept her kids educated--it definitely seems like drugs and some mental illness is going on there. so sad.

I have read the book 72 hour hold.and it was a very great book.lord knows i didnt know it was maia campbell the book was written about.im soo sad to see this video of this lovely girl.gods child.please pray for her.she is our sister.and we as a people need to join in and help, but we also must know, that in differnt ststes, there are laws.and in mental institutions, they cant force you to stay.only for 72 hours and if your in danger to harm yourself.
This is really sad. When she was on In the House, she used to go to Cedar Sanai for mental heatlth therapy. She is not taking her medications. She is ill and she still needs help. Her mom Bebe Moore died lasy year, I think. I read somewhere that she was introduced to crack at Spellman. This is really sad that people will exploit one another. What did you gain by doing this to her? What if this was your mom, sister, aunt, cousin, or grandmother? What if some one did this to you? When God asks you why you did this to her, what will you say?

it's a sad subject period. but i dispise it when people say that someone was "soooooo pretty" that they can't believe that this happened to her. mental disability is a disability, it doesn't only strike unattractive people. people without falimy. without money or fame. it can strike anyone, anywhere at anytime. looks does not make you sane.
i feel for her. it makes me wonder that if her mother was so involved in the mental health organizations, if she wondered that her daughter would slip. if there is a drug addiction and not just the lack of her prescribed meds and possibly therapy, she has to get right in the head, before she could ever take care of her addictions.
the people in the video (camera operator and driver) should be as ashamed of yourself as if you molested a child. her mental state although very talkative, she wasn't a functioning adult. they took advantage of her fame. who knows what else has happened that a camera wasn't around.

IT is SAD!!!! on so many levels.: we are exploiting our own race. bringing it down instead of helping one another up...and what is happening to the people who are recording the video. On the video u can hear someone in the backround say we will take you around the corner and choke you out and no one will know. And they have the nerve to get offended when she starts talking about their mother. But yet their dumb azz isn't thinking about how they are disrespecting her by videotaping her. Karma has a way of coming back around in one form or another..

This is SOOOOO.......WRONG. The issues and concerns that I have in the making of this video is with everyone involved. As well as, the person who wrote the piece for this article. However, due to Ms Campbell's issues and concerns with mental illness and/or drug usage, I have more understanding towards her. And NOT because she's famous. I have mental illness myself (severe depression) and family members with MI, that use drugs and or both.
As a person with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, I realize that you CAN'T help anyone that is not willing to help themself. And I'm aware that, "Everyone has issues, but some people just hide them better than others". But, You DO NOT kick a person when their down. There is a price to pay when you do. And everyone involved in the making of this video and the writer of this article owes, some more that others.
Because it's very evident to me that those who set Ms Campbell up, antagonized her, exploited her an

That's not cool at all, and it just shows you how fake people really are. It wasn't like that when she was making a little money and doing ok, but obviously these clowns must be a group of haters who probably couldn't get the time of day with her then. So there just loving this now. I really hope something touches her heart and she's strong enough to come back. I always thought she was so pretty. It's still not to late. Be strong girl. You should never put all your eggs into one basket, there are still other positive things you can do with your life. I'll pray for you.
