This seasons AGT showed me how easily ppl were influenced by the blatantly obvious favoritism the judges showed for Kevins story. Every week they hyped him up to win even after poor performances. Additionally, Kevin had a few lines to sing in the finale with the other contestants and couldn't even remember those.
Weeks ago, I commented to my husband that the judges appeared to be steering ppl towards Kevin to win. I began to think the show was rigged and that If Kevin actually won, I would never watch the show again. The rest of my family feels the same way. What a waste of time this season has been for us and the contestants. Where have the judges been??? Kevins are everywhere, and even ones that sing better. I quit AGT!!!

I agree with most of the comments, with some help and I'm sure it is already happening Kevin will be sharpened up a little but hopefully not too much, I'm talking about vocally. America fell in love with him as he is. His HEART and SOUL needs no grooming. I am truly happy and I await his shows in VEGAS.

I agree that Kevin was a very sweet, sincere man with a dream. However, he was certainly NOT the most talented performer. If he was a contestant trying out for American Idol, he NEVER would have made it past the audition round! Simon Cowell would have eaten him for breakfast! It's a TALENT competition and there were far better talents that deserved to win based on TALENT and not votes based on public sympathy. Kevin's 15 minutes of fame are nearly over and my guess is we won't hear the name Kevin Skinner for much longer. I'm just being honest and realistic.
Sorry to say, America ... you got this one all wrong.

I was a Barbara fan myself, but I was a little concerned after her final performance. I told a friend she might have chosen the wrong song. I think either of the other two she sang would have been better. There are probably more than a few people who are not familiar with Puccini. I have no problem with Kevin winning though.

Kevin Skinner has a "loving burning desire" in his soul to write and sing songs. That desire cannot be extinguished but will produce something in a person that requires it to grow and to infect others
in a very deep and profound way. Those who have been given that desire know it's value! You can't buy it....it's a gift!

No one other than Kevin Skinner deserved to be the winner. All of the other 9 finalists were very talented but, Kevin has true geniune talent. If it wasn't for the show he may of never been discovered. All of the other 9 finalists were very talented and I am sure they will go far. Congratulations Kevin and I hope to hear more from you in the music world.

I don't get it.
According to the comments on this website people voted for him because they felt sorry for him? Hellooooo, this was not a stimulus package, this was called America Got's Talent.
Every time- and I mean every time - he sang i went to the kitchen for a snack. And that was free on TV. Pay money in Vegas? You have got to be kidding.

Barbra had professional training. Am I the only one who sees that as unfair?
Skinner will just get better, and I'm sure he needs to get used to the nerves of performing live shows infront of many people. Some of his performances wern't perfect but so what? Some of the best singers screw up bigtime during live performances. It's no big deal. I bet a professional recording of him would sound fantastic!
He is great at connecting with the people. Sure his voice isn't as good as an opera singer's but what country singer's voice is?

From the first time Kevin performed, he took my breath away; the emotion he exuded and brought out in my heart made him the winner from that night. I was on the edge of my seat the last night, screaming with delight at his winning. He deserves every accolade that hopefully will come his way. Congratulations, Kevin, this ole gradma loves you!

I was a little disappointed that Kevin won. I was cheering for Recycled Percussion to win or even Barbara. But Kevin! I found his last performance to be the worst. His voice was shaky. I agree with Piers on that one!

Opera belongs in an opera house- over half of us did not know what she was singing but simple words like kevins are easy understood. He deserved it he's worth a million now. "Way to GO" ex-chicken farmer. Remember your roots

Barbara, was the favorite going into the finals, but her song selection was bad as it did not relate to the average person,
a song in english..maybe from Phantom of the opera, would have
been great..so I really think that song blew it for me..also the long hair, youthful look was missing..she narrowed her fans down.

How totaaly awesome for Kevin. I stayed on the edge of my couch the entire season hoping and praying from the first moment Kevin would be number 1 and he did it. I am not to far from Mayfield and he has made us all proud and showed us that dreams do come true even for small town folks. Way to go and much success in the future.

I DON'T USUALLY WATCH THESE SHOWS, BUT I HAPPENED TO CATCH HIS AUDITION. THAT WAS IT I WAS HOOKED UNTIL THE END. I HAVE NEVER WANTED ANYONE TO WIN MORE THAN I DID FOR HIM.
I HOPE IT DOESN'T CHANGE HIM TOO MUCH. I CAN HARDLY WAIT FOR HIS FIRST CD.
GOD BLESS KEVIN AND HIS FAMILY. GOOD LUCK AND REMEMBER WHERE YOU CAME FROM AND WHAT IT TOOK TO GET WHERE YOU ARE TODAY.

Maybe they need to come up with "America wants to pick a mediocre talent to make their dreams come true" show....cause that's what this ended up. I would not pay to listen to Kevin live or recorded. Barbara was the best talent and Recycled Percussion was the best vegas show possibility. either one of them deserved to win over Kevin. This does symbolize what our country is coming to. They kept saying that Kevin was what this show is about. Well, to me that means accepting a mediocre performer and touting them as the biggest new talent in America. Decide....talent show or "feel good" popularity show???

I hate to seem mean, but I agree with the others who have posted that he won't last. He is humble, yes, but unless they create some amazing magic in the studio and he lip sings, he won't last. He was the WORST with Thelma Houston and he final song was way off key. If you were going to vote for someone who you felt sorrow for, Voices of Glory should have won. However, let's be honest, the best talent was Barbara, but the best Vegas act was Recyled Percussion. Grandma Lee has more talent and future then he does. I'm from the south and grew up on country music. He's not up to par with Garth, Hank, Tim, Keith any of the men of country. I'm sorry Kevin. It's great you have the million because I fear this is all you'll get.
