Janet Jackson VMA Tribute Honors Michael
The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards were something else.
- An extended New Moon trailer aired.
- Beyonce was totally fierce. Sasha Fierce.
- Lady Gaga showed up looking like ... well, Lady Gaga.
- Kanye West acted like a little bitch and ruined Taylor Swift's big moment.
But the night was, in part, a tribute to the late Michael Jackson. Madonna opened the show with a heartfelt speech about her relationship with him.
A highly-anticipated tribute performance followed with well-known dancers doing the King of Pop's moves to "Thriller," "Bad" and "Smooth Criminal."
Then it was Janet Jackson's turn for a moving tribute. Giant screens inside the event kicked into the beginning of Janet and Michael's duet, "Scream."
Janet was removed from the video and sang and danced for real next to her brother, whose documentary, This Is It, was also previewed at the event.
It was impressive, entertaining and so much more:

The choreographer was originally Tina, they used the same dance that was in the video. I was there for the VMA's and I have seen Janet live countless times, she was not lip-syncing. If you listen to the original version its much softer and smoother vocals. What she did do was have the track playing in the back, she does this in her shows too. I don't think you can even compare Janet and LaToya. From person experience Janet is a very sweet kind person and she was very close to Michael. I think every other family member has come out and started some kind of crap about Michael at one point or another, the worst being LaToya, Jermaine, and Joe. People grieve in different ways, just because Janet went back to work does not mean anything, and LaToya lives down the street from UCLA so naturally she would make it there first. The family is trying to make money off of his passing, look at all the things they have coming out that benefit them. Janet's made an album almost every other year for a

Kudo's to whoever did Janet's choreography. The routine was cool, but I'm really tired of Janet lip-synching. Have you noticed she is really starting to look more and more like papa Joe in a lace-front weave. I'm glad she did a tribute but I like Latoya's song Home tribute better. Latoya's vocals are much better and she is the only one with any personality in the family and she was the first there at the hospital, signed the death certificate, and planned the memorial, and has since promoted Michael's charities. Janet went right back to work on Tyler Perry's movie and back in the studio to record yet another sex song with a dated beat just in time to make money off of her brother's death. Sad, Sad, Sad.
