listen ppl twilight sucks! they copied vampire diares big time and anyone who reads it would know that one of the only differences is that vampire diaries is waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy better! and some of you think vampire diaries is a rip off or w.e. only bcuz it took a long time for it to get popular but it took a long time for twilight to get popular just bcuz ppl ddnt try v.d. a while ago does not mean twilights better.Who cares if the Vampire Diaries were written first. They are just now coming out with a serious tv series, after Twilight became so popular. Good move on their part to get people interested... but it's kind of just a copycat, especially for those who haven't read the books. People will always be comparing the two and I highly doubt that there will be more fans of VD than Twilight. The only reason I say this is because if VD was going to be that big of a deal they would have beat Twilight to it along time ago... but they didn't did they... So, for me I'll be judging V

The differences/similarities listed here are very shallow, and based on the TV show vs the movie. Others have pointed out what's different about the Diaries books and TV show.
The main difference between Bella and Elena is that Elena is STRONG. She is INDEPENDENT. I read a review for Diaries, where a girl complained it wasn't enough like Twilight and that if, like her, you prefered books where the heroine is LONELY and DEPRESSED until her prince shows up, then you wouldn't like Diaries!?! Is that really something to aim for? Being lonely and depressed until you meet a man? Elena can stand on her own two feet, thank you very much, unlike a Ms. Bella Swan (seriously, that is a ridiculous name.) I liked Twilight ok, but I HATED Bella. Low self-esteem I could handle. Bella was beyond that. The girl was constantly complaining about how plain she was, yet half the male population at her school loved her, and the girls were falling over themselves to be her friend. In return, sh

look twilight is shit compared to vampire diaries. sorry to break it to you but VD came out before twilight did. Yes VD is a bit different from the book but i think it's better than twilight. plus elena can kick bella's ass. Elena's not weak you know. Unlike bella who has "flaws", Elena has real flaws like how she is coping the death of her parents and how she gonna live in a vampire lifestyle.

i find it funny that everybody says the vampire diaries are not copying off twilight because their books were written before the twilight saga, why would they come out with a show now, well i think is because there trying to make there tv show popular and get the books out there now that the twilight saga is so famous.

Jacob Black and Damon Salvatore are REALLY REALLY OPPOSITES!
1. Jacob is a Good Guy.
2. Jacob is a werewolf.
3. Jacob wasnt made for fight for Bella's love, Stephenie made another end in 2004 that wasnt published (Forever Dawn) but then she change her mind and made New Moon, where Jacob helps Bella and unknowingly she falls in love with him.

Its obvious that the CW network are cashing in on the Twilight and True Blood fame. That can't be argued with.
The Vampire Diaries came out in the early 90's, a time where its vampire craze was fading out. We already had a peak in the 80's with Vampire Movies: The Lost Boys etc. So once the books came out, again, the craze faded...HOWEVER and MOST IMPORTANTLY, we, the fans of the books, read it and have followed the books and the Author for the last 17-18 years. SM and Twilight have been around for 6 years??? Come back in another 14 years and tell me if SM and Twilight are still just as popular.
The TV series HAS disappointed many dedicated book fans, as they have changed a bit of the original story. However, it is supposed to run as a TV series and to keep going season after season, they have to have diversity, plot wise, else it'll run for a season then stop and that makes no sense. So we can only wait and see for ourselves if the TV series will work.
Regardless if the TV sh

I have read both books and while both are good it is very annoying to see SO much changed in Vampire Diaries. Elena is supposed to be BLOND with BLUE eyes. She has a younger SISTER.
Also, between Elena and Bella. Well now, Elena just trumps her because Elena isn't a whinny little idiot who can't take care of herself.

Doubt it will last

Lame, sometimes incorrect, but also I find it interesting. The more people realise that The Vampire Diaries was wrtitten and created a long time BEFORE Twilight, the more it discredits Twilight as the better series and that the Vampire Diaries is a rip-off of Twilight :) Bring on the comparisons (although its not exactly fair, as Twilight has some tiny credits...Like creating Sparkly Vampires), I say...Just get the facts right!

There are quite a few things wrong with your article. It is quite obvious that you have seen Twilight, and more than likely the vampire diaries commercials. However, as every vampire diaries fan knows, the show is quite different than the actual book. 1- the girl is supposed to be blond. (how hard is that to pull off!) It is on the cover of the book! Anyways, it is true about v. d. being written before twilight, if you want proof, simply look at the year of publication. Also Elena had a younger sister that she loved and adorded (sometimes hated- but don't all sisters). There are many other differances but as long as they stay on they stay on the storyline, it should be good!

Technically, the Twilight Saga shares many similarities with The Vampire Diaries since The Vampire Diaries is based on a series that was written before the Twilight Saga. I am a fan of both series and am actually getting frustrated with the lots of people claiming that Vampire Diaries is copying the Twilight Saga.
