While Sarah Palin's resignation as Governor of Alaska continues to be debated by pundits and casual observers alike, Palin wants to "set the record straight."
Sort of. By no means is any record actually set straight here.
She is asking her supporters to remain supportive, though.
"Critics are spinning, so hang in there as they feed false info on the right decision made as I enter last yr (sic) in office to not run again," Palin Twittered.
That's good to know. Whatever it means.
Some of Palin's other Tweets over the weekend were personal, including about her husband Todd, who had gone to work the family's commercial fishing grounds.
She said: "slaying salmon and working the kids. Anxious to join 'em."
She'll have plenty of time to soon, having ditched out on her state's highest office because it no longer suited her personal ambitions. We're just saying.
Other Tweets were fiercely political. The Washington Post hinted that an ethics investigation into the Palins' conduct may be launched in the near future.
"See letter from my attorney [Thomas V. Van Flein] on baseless allegations of past 24hrs," the mother of five and soon-to-be former Governor said.
The lawyer's letter, posted by Fox News, reads:
"Several unscrupulous people have asserted false and defamatory allegations that the 'real' reasons for Governor Sarah Palin's resignation stem from an alleged criminal investigation pertaining to the construction of the Wasilla Sports Complex."
"This canard was first floated by Democrat operatives in September 2008 during the national campaign and followed up by sympathetic Democratic writers. It was easily rebutted then as one of many fabrications about Sarah Palin."
"Just as power abhors a vacuum, modern journalism apparently abhors any type of due diligence and fact checking before scurrilous allegations are repeated as fact."
As for why Palin quit? Maybe she'll Tweet about that at some point. But for now, "I head 2 West AK villages today, look forward to their busy comm fish activity!"

If this is her way of getting ready for a 2012 run, its rather like shooting yourself in the head to cure a headache. If she had chinks in her armor in 2008 (and there were plenty of them), this is rather like removing your armor completely and saying "cmon, put your sword in me, I double dare ya!" After a decade of making themselves look completely foolish and clueless, apparently Republicans want to take the schtick into the next decade too. Obama doesnt have a thing to worry about.
