Eclipsed! Rachelle Lefevre Stunned, Angry Over Twilight Saga Recasting
There's a new controversy swirling around the Twilight Saga.
And it's got nothing to do with Team Edward vs. Team Jacob.
Yesterday, Summit Entertainment announced that it had recast the role of Victoria in Eclipse. Bryce Dallas Howard will be taking over for Rachelle Lefevre.
The studio says that Lefevre's shooting schedule for her next movie, Barney Version, coincides too much with the production of the third film in this iconic franchise. In a statement she just released, it's clear the actress disagrees:
“I was stunned by Summit’s decision to recast the role of Victoria for Eclipse. I was fully committed to the Twilight saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria. I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules. My commitment to Barney’s Version is only ten days. Summit picked up my option for Eclipse.
Does Rachelle Lefevre have a legitimate beef? Do you wanna see her in the role of Victoria?
Although the production schedule for Eclipse is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for Eclipse, never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10 day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part.
I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the Twilight audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate. I will be forever grateful to the fan support and loyalty I’ve received since being cast for this role, and I am hurt deeply by Summit’s surprising decision to move on without me. I wish the cast and crew of Eclipse only the very best.“
In response, the movie studio wrote:
"Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to the other project – which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment – makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse."

We all know why Rachelle didn't get "her role" back and that is because her Daddy "little Richie Cunningham" bought the role for her to get her more mainstream and onto the coveted "A List". Call a spade a spade and that's what this is NEPOTISM in Hollywood. And, now the movie is out Bryce Dallas Howard made a pathetic, over rhinoplastied Victoria. God she's ugly and untalented, but lucky for her, her last name is "Howard" and that counts for ALOT in L.A.

I'm in camp Rachelle, sorry...I like Bryce in some films but I would have preferred Rachelle in Eclipse.

This is over a year after this error in judgement on summis part. I did not no anything of Twilght until i was laid up from work & saw the first twilight on cable. My teen kids purchased the other 2 for me. I was hooked & so upset by the change of victoria i had to google & research it. Rachel was much better as victoria & i was dissapointed wit the proformance of the other actress. Shame shame.

I liked Rachel as Victoria. She fit fabulously so when I watched Eclipse I was confused by the Victoria Character. In fact, I missed seeing her in the part so much that I researched on the internet to find out what happened. I loved the way the first movie ended with Rachel's smirk and the music. It made we anxious to see the next movie. So not seeing her in the third movie was very disappointing. It was pretty clear the new Victoria was missing something that Rachel had down pat.

I think that Bryce Dallas Howard is an amazing actress and is a better Victoria than Rachelle Lefevre. NO OFFENCE to Rachelle... but i think that Bryce is prettier too...

My husband and I went to see eclipse being that I love the twilight movies.... I didn't even realize that Victoria was not being played by Rachelle until my husband told me..... I was angry to find out that he was right.... I feel that if ur going to continue a movie it must be played by th same actors ... In my opinion the whole movie is ruined and it makes me not want to see it anymore.... Rachelle is the original victoria and when u change that u change the entire role over all ... It makes Victoria less interesting in the eclipse! I was excited to have all three movies in my collection until I learned that the entire movie was made without all the original actors and actresses.... I am now not going purchase the eclipse!

Here is the thing maybe we didn't see much of rachellebecuz her parts wernt that big BUT n this is a big BUTTTT she was a great Victoria u could really believe she was manipulative b**ch no offense rachelle but as a acter she had it downand I think she would have been wonderful in eclipse I mean she worked the small roles so good and u can tell she worked hard at it so it just doesn't seam far to work that hard and not get to play the part that she was working up to I mean so wut if she was doin another movie so was half the cast I will still like the twilight saga but mostly becouse of the author and books if u have read the book rachelle really did give a great face n personality to the book charectore. as far as the new victoria well have u seen her she doeant even look the part the whole reason vamps are disirable is there looks n no offense she is jus not that appiling and vamps r supposed to look young and flawless and that she doesn't not saying she not a good actrisss or n e t

Honestly who cares? This is the only book/movie where Victoria is actually a main character- it's not like you got to see much of her in the first two.
True, a lot of story does revolve around her in the second movie, but you don't actually SEE a lot of her.
...and when this movie is over- is it really going to matter? There won't be anymore Victoria

I was shocked to hear that Rachelle Lefevre won't continue as Victoria. I think she was one of the best casts the production made. She WAS Victoria! What were they thinking?
