Tami Farrell on Gay Marriage: Yes and No!

When immature, self-serving moron Carrie Prejean was finally fired as Miss California USA for violating her contract last week, next in line was Tami Farrell.

Now that Farrell has been crowned, she too has been asked about her views on the hot topic of gay marriage, which Prejean says cost her the Miss USA title.

Prejean famously denounced gay marriage during the finals and became embroiled in a whirlwind of controversy (over that and her topless photos) thereafter.

Now it's her replacement in the hot seat, like it or not, and Tami Farrell told Fox News that she believes that marriage is the union of a man and a woman.

However, she gracefully qualified that statement as such:

Miss California 2.0

Tami Farrell says she wants to unify, not divide California.

"I don't think that I have the right or anybody has a right to tell somebody who they can or can't love," she said. "And I think that this is a civil rights issue. And I think that the right thing to do is let the voters decide."

Wow. An intelligent, non-preachy and honest response, and no comments about Satan tempting her with such evil questions either. Way to go, Tami!

Farrell added that she thinks it's silly that people turn to beauty queens for an opinion on the subject. This is definitely true, however, Tami also says she understands that when she became Miss California, she got a crown and a microphone.

The only people who like morons for how they've treated the former Miss California in all this is people like yourselves who have been extremely sleazy in the way you have reported this. I heard what Carrie Prejean said and there was nothing in any way sensational about it. Do you want to be called a moron simply for expressing your viewpoint?

Indeed, take another look and you will see that there is not that much different between what Tami Farrell said and what Carrie Prejean said. You're just being silly and liberal and painting yourself in a corner. People like you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Gays should be excluded from judging in beauty pageants because they are obviously not qualified for the job. How can you judge women's qualities when you are not attracted to them?! Pageants should be about qualities like these instead of politics.

Honey, some straight women have BAD taste. OK Bye now! :-)

@ Delicious : You may have a point but then at least let the gays be counted as female judges, so there still can be a good jury balance. According to Prejean, 3 other judges were also gay, and then you will hardly have an adequate competition.

S.B., just because gays are not attracted to women's qualities doesn't mean that they can't determine what's good/bad, what looks good/what doesn't in them. In fact, I know many homosexual men in the gay community who can determine the quality in a women's physical appearance, they actually pay more attention to these details than str8 men. With str8 men, it's like-as long as you have a vagina, i'll str8 up hit that. Sexual Orientation and judging a sex's physical attributes are two completely different things. Just because a gay man can judge the physical quality of a women doesn't mean he is naturally lustful towards them; it's more of admiring beauty, n' there's a difference. Actually, gay men have better taste in women than str8 men. Beauty pageants' clothes, hair, make-up, body types, and personalities are judged, and as far as I'm concerned, a str8 man can't judge any better on personality and body type than a gay man, and there are more gay male make up artists, fashion designers, and hairstylists than str8 men, just look at the atatistics.

Hey dipsh@t who wrote this article, how is the new Miss California's answer differ from Carrie's? It didn't and you know it. It's just now people have to make it sound like it's better because everyone who mocked Carrie to death will look like retards. So what is the Miss California organization do now fire this poor girl because she gave the same answer? No they can't now. And for your information the entire allegation on Miss Prejean not appearing and adhering to her contract is being contested by her. She claims she was cooperative and full filling her duties. Of course the pageant is going to try to make it look like she wasn't because they wanted to get rid of her. Shana Moekler and that Lewis guy can take a hike. They are all self serving self righteous a-holes.

Carrie Prejean had every right to speak her mind at the Miss USA pageant. However, so did everyone else who supported or disagreed with her final answer. While Carrie feels she's being punished for her answers, her employers feel that she was not fulfilling her duties as Miss California USA. There are two sides to every story and we all know that the media doesn't always deliver all of the facts. Or, doesn't deliver the news accuratley.
While I did not appreciate Carrie's final answer at the pageant, I feel that she looked amazing during the show. I also feel that she'll be successful in her career. For someone who is 22, she's done a good job of maintaining her composure during press conferences and interviews. The lovely and very hip,Tami Farrell, will also do well as the new Miss California USA because she understands the roll of a pageant title holder. Afterall, Tami is a former Miss Teen USA. Since Tami has done her time as a national title holder, she's very well prepared to represent the golden state.
Finally, while I appreciate Shanna Moekler's and Keith Lewis's dedication to the Miss California USA organization, it was bad form to release information about Carrie's breast implants. As a former Miss USA, Shanna should have shown more class and as a seasoned pageant director and businessman, Keith just should have known better.
