Any parent has done it on run up on that line. Spanking is not the end of the world folks, beating is. It kept me out of jail, getting into things that I souldn't have and I was reminded to RESPECT adults/peers.

Get real, everyone got spanked at least once in their lives, and nobody got retarded nor traumatized. Kids need this some times. They are getting abussive every day and are more disrespectful toward their parents.
I agree with her spanking if was needed. I agree with someone that wrote about people doing worse things inside their homes and nobody knows it. People should learn to respect other people's lives

We all discipline our children in our own way as we see fit. Who are we to judge or tell other's how to discipline their children, UNLESS and only unless it is a danger to the childs' well-being. Obviously the paparazzi weren't too disturbed because the police or social services were not called, nor did anyone interrupt the spanking. Isn't there more important things going on, like perhaps the war where we are still losing soldiers everyday....

I am sorry but I think people need to get a life and stop making things out to be more then what they are. I don't really believe in giving spankings but I do know that from time to time my children have pushed my button a little to far and gotten a little pat on the butt. All I have to say is it is people like Kristin who turn a little spanking into a beating who need to get a life. If you ask me I think the problem in the world today is everyone is so affraid to discipline a child because of something like this happening, that the kids grow up knowing they can get away with anything. That is why 1/2 (or More)of the kids today have no respect for anyone or anything.

I wish my parents would have gotten money everytime one of the five of us got spanked. So freaky what; she spanked her child; the women had an open hand, it was not like she balled her fist up and punch the child.

WHO CARES!? Sometimes kids need a swat on the butt... with so many kids, if Kate starts to lose control, they will walk all over her! These kids are sweet, but to stay that way they need discipline from there parents... We are no ones judge when it comes to our kids. She knew the paps were there... and spanked anyway, seems to me that is a Mother being a Mother. End of story. Get a life.

I think plenty of us were spanked when were kids. Spanking isn't bad. Sometimes kids need a spanking once or twice to learn a lesson. She has 8 kids. She is human. It's not like she is beating her. People move on to something that is worth talking about!!!!

Are you kidding me??? That's what more kids need these days - a good old fashion spanking. Discipline seems to have gone out the window and our children are suffering because of it. Partents have lost control of how to raise there kids and therefore neglect to discipline and instill values at an early age so that by the time they become teenagers, they know the difference between right and wrong. They will understand that their actions have consequences. I would never advocate hurting a child, but a swat on the bottom to get their attention is certainly warranted if the child is not responding to anything else.

I completely agree with Lauren--if more kids were spanked, disciplined, there wouldn't be nearly as many disrespectful and rude kids. Me and my sisters were spanked plenty when we were kids, and I have to say, we respect our mother, and always have--one look from her and we'd stop our bickering or whatever it was she was giving us the look for in the first place.
People need to get a life! Instead of judging Kate for giving a probably much-needed spanking to the kid, we should focus on more important things such as increasing drug and alcohol use among children and adolescents, "sexting" among teens (even pre-teens), and violence as well.

There is no RESPECT for parents! how about we try something new like teach our kids dicipline,respect and setting limits so they dont run wild n out of control like a lot of them do.

Spanking is not 'beating' your children it is purely discipline. Honestly if more people in my generation (1980's) and the next generations to come would have gotten or get disciplined by spanking or other means we may not have issues that we have in society now. Am I saying spanking fixes everything, certainly not, but a good spanking sure does get the point across between appropriate behavior and unappropriate beahvior. Lets face it simply asking children to stop their poor behavior is not discipline and it is even worse when they are allowed to get away with poor behavior because it doesnt get better with age! Children need to learn respenct for others and discipline and todays parents are not getting it done. Good for Kate if Leah got spanked because she was told to stop and then didn't, that was her consequence quick and to the point.

I'm sure dealing with all those children, they can work a nerve. If a child is acting out, I say spank their behind. I mean, who is the parent & who is the child these days? The only time I spanked my now 14 daughter was when she went out onto our busy road. You better believe I spanked her. I do not know what caused the spanking. I think Kate is pretty high strung. This coming from a person who is high strung. Though I don't care for her and will not watch the show if she is the only one on it, I do not think it is out of line to spank your child on a rare occasion.

Good Job Kate! Spankings are a requirement with all kids of all ages! As my grandmother says, "If you have no ears to hear me you can feel me!". If no one recognized Kate has EIGHT kids if and honestly if it were me I'd walk with a belt at all times. Keeping one child still is hard enough but EIGHT, yea cameras or no cameras she did the right thing and if she only spanked them behind the scenes would that make everyone feel better? For all those who had a problem with the spanking go get yourself EIGHT kids and then give your REAL opinion, you'd probably agree all kids need to be spanked now and then, not abused but spanked there is a difference!
