(howdoyoujustifyabuse: At 9 and 11 our kids are the most well behaved kids you will ever meet. Both are all "A" students. I agree it is much easier and faster to correct a behavior by smacking them around until they stop...but the problem with that is we actually love our kids.)
You live in your own little dream world. No 9 and 11 year old is going to be the best behaved kid you will ever meet unless you have them drugged all the time.
You should be careful how you word things on here. Just because some of us choose to disciplie our children by spanking them doesn't mean we don't love them. I love my child more than life itself and it is because of that love that she gets a spanking when she is disobedient. We have kids nowadays that do what they want, take what they want, and say what they want because there parents don't teach them any better or are too busy to keep tabs on them and to straighten them out when they act up. You choose not to spank your children I choose to spank mine that's our God given right. Doesn't mean you don't love your children and it damn sure doesn't mean I don't love mine. Like I said you need to choose your words much more careful next time.

come on people, i think the world is in devastation because we fail to follow thw bible. the bible does state that spanking should be used when necessary. so when any one goes against it like the U.S.A you know that there is trouble. if you don't believe me turn your page to the book of Proverbs 22:15 saying "Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him" and 23:13-14 saying "Withhold not correction from the child: for if though beatest him with the rod, he shall not die"... "Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell" just think about what our world would be like if we just follow the bible and stop trying to justify our own ways.

Wow... people are so bored these days. Everyone spanks their kids, that's nothing new, some parents even do worse.. I'm definitely not a big fan of the show, and in some cases Jon and Kate were asking for all this to happen, but also the paparazzi needs to back off a little, and maybe Jon and Kate could work some things out. I'm getting tired of hearing about all this crap.

Maybe you should read the bible before you quote it knucklehead.
In the bible the "Rod" was used to guide the sheep in the right direction. It was not used to pound them into oblivion or submission. So the idea of "spare the rod(guidance) spoil the child" suggest that without guidance(not beating) you might spoil the child.

I have watched the show since the babies wrer all born. I never miss one. Kate is a very strong mom. Could you think of yourself in her place, camers crew there day by day. 24 hrs. a day. Jon has a job to go to and leaves the house. kate is with the children more than him. Also in a marriage can you really say every doesn't have a fight. So tell me is she wrong to hit or spank on of the kids. When i was a child I was hit with a twig.My moms hand for something I was told not to do. I didn't enteroup the grown-ups during a conversation. I have 4 children myself. They are all grown. You can ask them, they got spanked when they deserved it. And even when they were teenagers.Thats why they turned out to be good kid and now good parents themselves. Spanking is part of a parents love. If they didn't care for you and teach you right from wrong. kate is a good mom and so is jon. Let them live there life. If they break up, let it be. Sometimes men has to have a women to keep them going that complains. Hey we all need to leave them alone. The kids are growing up, if they need a spanking let it be. The is a good family. leave them be.

ohmigosh people....SERIOUSLY??? it's not that big of a deal!! and i read something on here that said "she's using her fist, thats not spanking thats beating" well, she ISN"T using her fist for one thing, it's the angle of the picture. and plus spanking isn't really bad. it's disapline. with 8 kids you can't use "time outs" for all of them, kids all learn different ways, some you just say "no" others you do "time outs" others you have to "spank" it's just NOT A BIG DEAL! leave her alone for cripes sake!!!

I can't believe that Kate giving Leah a spank is making news. There is nothing wrong with a little spank. I believe every child has experienced a spank. But obviously it should never go beyond that. I also believe that Leah and the other seven children are being more harmed by their mom and dad being in the news constantly, and in a negative way. Jon and Kate either divorce or get over it. Think of your kids instead of yourselfs, especially Kate. Pull the plug on your show, and teach your kids what being a "real" family is like.

Does anyone know how to spell anymore? Aside from that obvious cultural phenomenon, Kate's marriage with Jon is a different issue from her discipline style with the children. It is so sad how they need the money to continue raising those kids, but the money from the show is exactly what caused the entire problem. Those of you who have watched this family transform positively, and then shortly begin to implode because Kate and Jon were no longer nuturing each other,...Kate gone on business trips, etc, know what I mean. It is tragic that this family is falling apart because of the reality show that was simply supposed to allow them to live more comfortably. When you mess with something good too much, it usually breaks. Those two need support right now. Just imagine you are in their shoes. Each is human, in a huge fish bowl, probably wishing they could somehow rewind the clock to the good old happy days.

I find it interesting when the spankers yell at the people who do not want to spank. And visa versa. we all do things our own way. we should all be fine with that. I wouldn't spank my son but that is my own feeling and way i want to raise my son. I am not wrong nor is the next person who will do something different.

I was spanked and my children have been too! I was a straight A student and am now a teacher. My girls all make the honor roll, and have lots of friends. I know it is because when they were young they were spanked and taught right from wrong as I was. It does work. I haven't had to spank them in a while now, and I know it is because I did it when they needed it and now they know better!!! Leave Kate alone!!! Those of you against spanking are lucky if time outs work for your children. I can tell you, as an educator, that the children coming through school now needed some discipline before they came.

Clearly the person who said she was using her fist needs to really look at the picture again! Her hand is as flat as a pancake!! Fingers straight out and all. By the body language of the little girl, she knew she had done something wrong, it was not and out of the blue blow from her mom! Come on people, all kids need to be spanked and often! I was and I am not scared by it, I deserved it!

I wished they would take this crap off TV...Go live your lives !!...and give your kids a life off the camera's...geezzz...enough is enough !...MY husbands Mother had 18 kids...do you think they all made a fuss over them...heck no...and for someone that doesn't like all the media talking about them they sure like the camera's well enough to jump in there and make their "MAJOR DECISION"...it's a waste of TV time for crap shows like this to be aired !!
