kk im a kid and when i was little spanking happened alot mind u i hated it but i leaved though it and here i am! i dont understand when pepole say kate is to hard because she is like any other mother. its got to be hard raising 8 kids by herself! come on people!!!!! alot of people spank their kids!!

In my opinion Kate is doing the right thing with her children and I think they should lay off... I mean spanking is certainly different than abusing a child and "it's sweet and to the point..." I'm only a teenager and I know the difference... My mother spanked me when I was a little kid and now I'm a mature, smart, young, adult... Spanking doesn't fix everything I'll give that to you, but Kate should be able to do what she wants with her children and her use her choice of discipline... Like I said lay off Kate if you don't use discipline like spanking your child that's fine, but you probably got some children that need it or you don't have any... That is being a hypocrite.... So, lay off Kate she'll do the right thing to make sure her children come out of their childhood properly....

Those of us who have been blessed with being parents have a REAL UNDERSTANDING about children, being that each one is completely different. Our son is mild and sensitive and doesn't challenge us much, so spanking isn't really necessary. However, other boys his age act completely different and need that kind of consequence to help them behave better. We are all raising little men and women, the most important job on the planet, so let's not fault Kate for papparazzi photos she fell victim to. We weren't there, and Kate adores those children, that's obvious. On the other hand, she doesn't adore Jon, and that's also obvious. I would plead that Kate's unwillingness to love Jon is MUCH MORE OF A CONCERN for the kids welfare than a spanking!! An intact home with Mom and Dad happy is always important if you are trying to raise stable, happy children.

Leave John and Kate alone, when I greww up I was always spanked. So what. Also, leave their marrige alone, all families have problems so why pisk on them, get a life and start worrying about your own other then John and Kate's. People like this, making rumors are horrible.

I love this show and it is one of my favorites. now kate might of made a bad mistakes but people who does not. and with the kate and jon thing way to long on tv people that like the show and care like to know what is going on with them. and yes i think does remember what she got spanked for but ask her does she do it anymore.

I was spanked once by my father and several times by my mother when I was a child. Each time I recieved that particular discipline, I had disobeyed my parents over an issue that was crucial for me to learn. I am certainly not scarred by the spankings. I understood, at a very young age, the difference between being disciplined and being abused as a result of frustration or uncontrolled anger. As I see it, the only abuse perpetrated on this child continues to be the stalking and exploitation she suffers at the hands of money-hungry unethical reporters. Shame on them all!

Kate need's to take some pills. She blams Jon for her problems, but it's really her. Poor Leah, look at kara and madys face they look shocked. But the really sad thing is, is that there to afraid that will be them if they stick up for Leah.

I totally agree with many of the posts. Spare the rod, spoil the child! There is a definitive difference between beating and discipline. I am one of six siblings...my parents had to spank at least one of us every week. Today, none of us have had drug/alcohol issues, are all hard working and responsible, none of us have been incarcerated, and all are very, very respectful of others.
Authority has been taken away from parents, and the kids today just run a muck! They have no respect for themselves or others. The kids of today are spoiled, have a much skewed sense of entitlement, and definitely a twisted sense of reality, and “life” itself! They need to realize that there are consequences for every action, you must work/strive for what you want, you must set goals, and nothing is free or arbitrarily just given to you! We’ve handled the youngsters of today with kit gloves for far too long…if we do not discipline them, society will!

I seriouly think they should take that Jon & Kate plus 8 SHOW OUT of the T.V. it is getting soooooo stupid already...Kate thinks she is all that now?? weirdooooo they should change the name to Jon, THE BOSS plus 8....Kate is like the man of that house plus shes gross & have a stupid attitude ughh can't stand her..

wow.....its too bad that everyone is up in arms about this....i do not think anyone should have more than a few kids... i think it is irresponsible to want more...i came from a family of five....we say well we love them all....if we want to be a properous country our kids need the best attention they can have and schooling etc... you may love youre 18 kids but there is n o way all of them are going to get the best...

It's ok to give a child a pop on the butt, but never hit one in the face. Please don't divorce, give your family a chance to become a whole family again. Just stop the show and work on your getting things back together.

I believe in spanking my kids. Our parents spanked us, and we turned out right! Maybe everyone needs to stay out of her business. Isn't it bad enough that her marriage is falling apart?! She should be able to discipline her children without being hounded!

This stopped being a reality show when they moved into a million dollar house and taking frequent trips to ski in Utah. Now they are just like any other celebrity family that has a lifestyle I could never afford. It's not a cute little show anymore that I would turn on while making dinner after getting home from work. I was really disgusted when I realized that Jon wasn't even working anymore. I don't tune in anymore because it's not enjoyable for me to watch these rich people obviously throwing their family values away for the almighty buck. I feel very sorry for the whole family. I'm sure the kids will resent it when they are grown.

Frankly, I am getting more than tired of hearing about this whole thing! It has been obvious to me from the very beginning that the ENTIRE reason for any of this is the all mighty dollar. These people have been given tummy tucks, hair transplants, teeth whitening, shopping sprees, hotels, condos, and probably whatever else one could imagine for FREE. Now, they live in a $1 million dollar plus "house".....give me a break! Let the kids grow up and learn that they have been living in a fantasy world created by their parents. Maybe spending more time with Aunt Jodi and family would be the VERY BEST thing for them. They would still be among "family" but out of the lime light that Mommy and Daddy seem to crave. Perhaps if Kate had stayed home from some of her book tours (where there is NO WAY in Hell I would pay $10 for her autograph) and concentrate on being a Mom and a wife....some of these things might have been avoided. Poor baby! She had to make her own birthday cake....there MUST be a lesson there (you think???). Give the viewers a break.....fall out of sight for a little while....I think EVERYONE would be MUCH happier!!!

There is nothing wrong with spanking a child for discipline. More kids need to get their tales whipped does more good than stuffing pills down them to make them mind. There is a difference in spanking a child on the rear and breaking their bones.

I am a mother of four chldren and if you don't discipline you children, then they'll walk all over you. How do you think the Military turns a boy into a Man...Through discipline. The same thing with girls. They turn a girl into a Woman. Weather the discipline is military style or just spanking a child. I am a prime example of somone who wasn't disciplined. My brothers were and they turned out better than me. I was a spoild brat and once your spoild it's hard to get away from that. It could of been a lot worse. I could of been hooked on drugs. Instead of dugs, i had children at a young age. Now i'm struggling, i wish to God that everyday my parents would have disciplined me! I'm just thanful everyday that I was never hooked on drugs or in a gang. People, she isn't doing nothing wrong at all. Why don't they just leave Kate alone!! Besides, I did graduate from college with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice and it's not illegal to spank a child. If there's no marks, your fine. The law says technically, you can spank on the butt. But you know what? Even my professors told me that when they changed the law, it was Unnecessary and stupied!!!

Doesn't anyone remember Kate saying Littlt Leah melts Daddy's heart the most??? I am sure a witch like Kate will take it out on the kid! Between Mady and the water incident, she has lost it! It was probobly Steve on the phone. Also love Jon.
