Love is all we want. Love is all we need.
So sings Adam Lambert in his debut single, "Want."
It's not the loud, theatrical rock anthem many might have expected from this American Idol finalist, but it's a perfect example of his range.

** UPDATE: This is actually an old song, penned in 2005. Said Lambert in a statement this week:
"Back in 2005 when I was a struggling artist, I was hired as a studio singer to lend my vocals to tracks written by someone else. I was broke at the time and this was my chance to make a few bucks, so I jumped at the opportunity to record for my first time in a professional studio.
"The work I did back then in no way reflects the music I am currently in the studio working on.
"I'm thrilled to be working with some of today's hottest songwriters and producers and can't wait for people to hear what my music really sounds like."

You shouldn't be posting Adam's music without his approval. What's wrong with people? Give him a chance to create music he is proud of and release it as HE see fit?

Adam is NOT endorsing this old collection of songs now being released by a questionable record company wanting to make a quick buck on his new found fame.
Adam's statement:
"Back in 2005 when I was a struggling artist, I was hired as a studio singer to lend my vocals to tracks written by someone else. I was broke at the time and this was my chance to make a few bucks, so I jumped at the opportunity to record for my first time in a professional studio. I'm thrilled to be working with some of today's hottest songwriters and producers and can't wait for people to hear what my music really sounds like."
Obviously Adam is not happy that this company is trying to make it sound like they are putting out his "Debut" album, when the songs were NOT written by him, and they were recorded years ago. I'll wait for his REAL debut album, expected in the fall from RCA.

I'm sorry to read that this single isn't sanctioned by Lambert - I really liked the song and his performance of it. I would have bought it on iTunes, but I won't if Lambert is disavowing it because I respect the right of all artists to control what is released to the public.
This is the first time I've heard Lambert sing because I loathe all the judges on American Idol and I haven't watched it in years. I can see why Queen wants him as their frontman; his voice really is reminiscent of the fabulous Freddie Mercury.

The song may not be what Adam want's to present to us at this time, okey. We are just so hungry for anything Adam that we fans love everything he ever did and of course that which is first comming. I love to understand his early years and know that it took all that to bring him to where he is now........Just a fan.

this just goes to show the vesatility that is so unique about Adam's singing and performances. however, i am so thrilled about Adam's promising future and support him as an avid fan and human being. i support him in his response to the unauthorized release of this song and look forward to purchasing future concert tickets and CDs that will be available in the not too far off future. Adam, we support you as devoted fans and will not let you down!

agree with all of the above. adam clearly wants his first commercial release to be the album he is working on with rca -- and all of us who adore him want to support his wishes. nevertheless, ANYTHING new that's out there by him at this point is just to irresistable to ignore. this song is kind of hokey, but his beautiful voice, and the sentiment (not unlike what he said on 20/20) still makes it appealing -- but def not adam's preferred style of the moment. i just moved it to my desktop -- along with the AI finale performance with queen (not available on itunes -- oh and kris was kind of on that too, barely!). i will not buy it if adam does not endorse.

I can't really tell if Adam is not endorsing this single, he's only telling me that it's something he did before Idol and his original new material will be forthcoming in the fall. For me, I can see having both the "now" and the "to come". Unless, of course, he actually does say in CLEAR words that NO he would rather we not support this past music.????? I personally can't see how this can possibly do any damage to his career. And, yes, it is sad that the record company is only now bringing it to the public and trying to cash in on his fame.

Oh please! He's probably overjoyed that this material is out there. More publicity for him, and that is what this guy is all about. Pretend not to like it, and you get more write-ups due to the "controversy" involved in releasing it.
He's eating this up.
