My wife and I have been to therapy for all the above problems. The biggest truth is Kate does nothing to Jon he doesn't allow. He needs to become a man with balls and fix his issues or he will repeat the same mistakes with another mad cow. And Kate, she will self select another someone she can control and wonder why he learns to hate her guts. Get help.

What Jon and/or Kate wants at this point should be moot. If they had a tenth of the love they say that have for those children they went through surgical procedures to have, they need to both shut the hell up for once and be a family, even if it kills them. They can say whatever platitudes they feel are appropriate but we can see by their actions that the only thing they truly care about is themselves and their selfish desires. You two care about your kids? Then grow up and get along. Idiots.

It is very unfortunate for the children, but the show, the family and the marriage probably ended the day Kate was given any attention. Her personality is like a destruction magnet... she should try a duet with Britney it might get her ratings up.

kate aside....let's consider Jon's behavior--he had a girl that he dumped for Kate---dropped out of school to backpack and hang out in Europe---probably on his parents bank account...he quit (was fired?) from his job, he quit (was fired) from his marriage. Poor spoiled guy is now worth 8 figures, owns an estate, drivers a sports car, a motor cycle worth more than some people's homes, is looking at prime real estate in NYC, now acts like a petulant brat of an ass---now he claims he's the guy that he knows he is....um....I'm not thinking that's such a great change. Now that he has it all he can turn around and say--no more show, no more Kate, I'm otta here. Real grown up that man is...

My feeling is that Kate has been a controller from the beginning. She wanted the fertility treatments whether her husband wanted the second round and the potential for who knows what. Then she got more POWER with the money and fame and physical enhancements she acquired. She can do it all herself she thinks and doesn't need anyone...and her husband probably feels this profoundly. There has to be a humble spirit to step back and take a look at ourselves...then maybe there would be hope for a relationship that God would truly bless.

Im really sad for the whole family esp watching from the begining how the parents have changed not only towards each other but to themselves. Yes everyone wants everything for nothing and crazy amounts of money, but right before our eyes I think if it wasn't for this show they might still be together. Kate does taunt Jon relentlessly, but who knows how it would have been if the cameras were not involved. Maybe she felt powerful with them being there that she pushed him to the edge (Thats no reason to cheat). Marriage is stressful, plus kids is really stressful, plus the world watching that would drive anyone nuts. I hope the kids get counciling. I'm more concerned with them more than the parents because they never asked to be famous. I'm sure their peers know at school. I mean its only in every tabloid. How can any of them not know. What we are forgetting is that...the camera only captures WHAT it wants...of course Kate has been been made out to be the b*&ch....yes, she even screamed at Jon about coupons..I have a feeling that was AFTER she already knew about his affair...anyone can see he didn't challenge the yelling. But if you look at all the turmoil you will see that Kate IS the one spending ALL the time with the children..and so what if she spanks them??? Any 5 year old will scream at a spank no matter how hard or light...she's allowed to do that!!! Jon is the one out...CAUGHT with other women...was Kate? NO...so then they made a rumor up about her and the bodyguard...puhleazzze!!! L A M E. I hate that they are divorcing, it is so sad, and no matter what they do they can't avoid this. I have always been a fan of Jon and Kate but if they go through this divorce I'm done with them. Who ever said life was easy and life with children was? They brought these beautiful children into this world and they deserve a decent loving family. They have to really try to keep things together.You don't give up at the first sign of trouble.I've been married for 43 years and life wasn't always easy, but get help and don't be selfish. Kate you have to give Jon some respect...you really put him down . At first it was cute but after awhile you came across as a mean, nasty ,and controlling woman.I don't doubt that with 8 little kids you have to be organized' but you have to give a little now and then. Everything can't be perfect with kids around. Maybe Jon did surround himself with the wrong people but I believe he's sorry. you can get through this but you have to want to. I feel like this show provided a lot of insight on the danger of reality TV. It started as a limited documentary that this family agreed to, then gradually they are selling their lives for $75,000 per episode. I am done watching it, as I do not feel the need to support this enterprise and the harm it will continue to do to these children.

I love Kate, and honestly, Jon seems like mor to blame here. Kate is traveling and taking care of children and Jon is off partying and (probably) cheating on his wife. I loved their relatioship, loving but fun, and know I just dread watching it. Kate speaks in a different tone, and Jon just seems blank. The kids seem different too. I want things to return to normal, but that can't happen. Kate is a strong woman who cares about her kids more than anything else, and she's standing for what she believes in. I think Jon needs to relize what is important in his life. What has happened to the lovely couple, who many families turned into watch nightly? I miss the Old Gosselins, but they will never return. It makes me want to puke. I hope that they both find the person that truly makes them happy and will stay by their side and their chilren's side no matter what.

I have watched this show from the very start and I have read most of the comments posted here..and I agree with the people who are not taking sides, we can not take sides when we do not know these people on a personal level. We just do not know what goes on behind closed doors, we do not know what has really happened..we do not know what tlc has or has not edited..simply we do not know we can assume and go by the millions of different stories we have read but when it really comes down to it we don't "really" know these people. From what we watch and here yes kate is a very harsh person but who dosent know someone that is like that I could think of one or two in my own family, the difference is they are not on tv, and who at one time or another has not lost there patience or yelled at someone or been harsh with there significant other? Now imagine that with 8 kids running around all the time. Yes they have been given things money trips and maybe this did blind them to what was happening

Has anyone thought of the possibility that the announcement isn't going to be their divorce?? Based on the advertisments it sounds to me more like they are going to take their lives off of reality tv and attempt to live their lives as a normal family. Why must we always assume the worst in a situation?

Sadly the above poster is correct as to her parents as its been discussed with the locals in Elizabethtown PA where they live by people who donated clothes and then found out they were given away to a consignment shop. Kate's parents would not give into her wacky demands and so she cut them out of her and her children's lives. I think this is all just trumped up b.s. Those kids are getting too old for TLC to keep making money off of this show. It just seems a little too convenient to me that in what should be the last season of this show anyways, J & K are the subject of much controversy, headlining the tabloids, and to everyone's shock (not) TLC and the Gosselin's are lapping up the ratings. I guess I should give them credit for going out with a bang.

As a child from the product of a lying parent...I've done fine..I graduated college, going to grad school..yes. However, that's not the point...I realized who was greedy snd a horrible parent. Children can sense that. They can see the nasty, ugly being who is with them. They regret moments, because that being is there. Adultery, hate, greed....it doest't matter...when you say 'kids first', it means literally speaking with them....not siging another contract. I support jon....kate...really, jealous child anyone?

In an episode a few years back she was screaming at him in a crowded store after telling him to stay put, she wanted him to come to her and the poor mans not physic, and he told her that he felt like her whipping boy, which is what he's been ever since the shows aired. She screams and yells like she owns him. She makes the kids cry and they go find their father because they know he wont hurt them. She is a terrible mother. Everytime they were shown on vaca, the kids were just trying to have fun and the bitch went and screamed AGAIN, nothing is ever good enough for her she is a selfish bitch. she should lose her kids. I think that after denying her kid water but making sure she herself got water....
