Ed McMahon has died at the age of 86. He was awesome.

The former TV mainstay passed away at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in California this morning, following a battle with myriad health problems.

McMahon's fight against cancer had been well-documented over the past year. He is survived by his wife Pam and six children from previous marriages.

He is best known as Johnny Carson's sidekick on The Tonight Show for many years, during which he coined his catchphrase, "Heeeeeeeeere's Johnny!"
