Equality;
I am a Catholic Christian, and quite honestly, I could care less if homosexuals want to get married. While I may not agree with their lifestyle, the issue of marriage is not something that must involve religion. There are many 'churches' that will marry same sex couples, and the state or federal government would not need be involved. The problem is that this issue has been fabricated by the liberals to further their agenda.

Even when the liberal media said we're making things miserable over there for them and yet all you hear from their people is how wonderful it is there now to not have a dictator who doesn't gas them or run them over with tanks.
As for the comment about the liberal idea of arguing. Is it not true? Have you not read a single article that has not bashed her before the pics and after just because she stated an opinion?

Equality, I appreciate the apology for the insult.
The reality is, however, that society has for many generations upheld marriage as man and woman. This is not my belief alone, or my family's, but society at large. The homosexual community wishes to change that which, inherently, changes the fabric of society. Something that has been static and normal for thousands of years being changed is certainly a massive overhaul and merits the term.
Tolerance. It doesn't mean accepting everything, contrary to your interpretation of the word. To be truly tolerant, one must understand not only the values and norms and folkways of a society, but also the mores and taboos.
What this movement seeks to do is upend norm and taboo. That's quite radical and outside the bound of casual tolerance. Yes, there is 'debate', but as long as one person disagrees, there will be debate. However, the voters of California were quite clear in their choice. We must be tolerant of that, too, musn't we?

If nudity or partial nudity is a contraversay or contrary issue, then the swim wear or bathing suit competition should be eliminated from all beauty pagents. One would notice that today's swim wear contestants show a lot of skin and their body, hense, "partially nude." Alison the only thing "ironic" in this situation is that you just told me you've studied numerous religions to "gain understanding and tolerance." Yet, your stance on this particular issue leads one to conclude the exact opposite.
And don't try to speak on behalf of "society" -- if that were the case this wouldn't even be a debate, right? This is your point of view. Clearly there IS a debate going on with people on both sides(see for example Iowa's Supreme Court decision recognizing your argument as indicative of inequality vs. California's passage of Prop 8).
Like I said, there's no problem with YOU holding the belief that a marriage is between a man and a woman. Sorry for insulting your beliefs. My argument is that superimposing your beliefs onto others and in doing so treating a whole group of people as second class citizens is FLAT OUT WRONG. No matter how you spin it. Equating homosexual marriage with the Civil Rights movement is insultory. Blacks at the time were not afforded access to schools, government offices, voting booths -- even water fountains or busses.
But because marriage has, from the beginning of time, been between man and woman alone, and you cannot enter it to it because of your lifestyle, you play victim.
