Amanada I agree this started with Judy and Juan became as bad as Judy with what he said. But now you have become as bad as him. You can't think that you sound any better than Juan do you? I'm sorry to hear that Amanda about your family, that must be really hard for you. And I did see the other's comments. Awful. But when I read Juan's comments and the others, it made made me feel sorry for them because they are like Judy, just the other way and you must have a lot of problems in your life to write such hateful words. And the comments about 9/11 were so ignorant, I didn't think it was worth commenting because people of all races died that day. But this thread has been getting out of hand. It's just when I got to yours I'd had enough but I was actually going to comment after Juan's because it was just a different side of the same coin from Judy's ignorant comment. Its quite hurtful reading them because we all know people of different races and i'm sure we don't feel like that about the people we meet and know day to day. Like you say, you love that little baby no matter what colour he is. Imagine how hurt he would be if he ever read your comments? Of course he wont read them, but if you carry hatred with you it sometimes comes out in ways you don't even realise. It eats you up and then explodes and ends up hurting you and those you love. I think you should maybe try to speak with your extended family and explain how hurt you feel that they only speak spanish in front of you and suggest to do things as a family that doesn't involve them standing around speaking a different language to you. Suggest activities like swimming or bowling, some kind of team sports where there is a common goal, but don't let everyone segregate, otherwise it defeats the purpose. If they reject it or don't want to, then you know you have tried your best and if they continue to speak spanish just smile and walk away. Or even better, try to learn the language and surprise them one day by piping in a sentence. I bet that would surprise them! But try it, you don't have much to lose and a lot to gain. I can understand that you saw the other posts and felt angry, and what you're saying about your family makes it more understandable but you know you always have the highroad if you don't go down to that level. It doesn't feel great carrying that much hate around. Come on, you can see that Juan can't be a happy or well adjusted individual. But why do want to present yourself in that way too? Like you say, you don't really want to say those things, so don't.It doesn't feel great. And i think the same goes for people writing hateful things about white people. Its like a big adrenaline shot because we are behind computers and can say the things we want but that high doesn't last as we're still stuck with the hateful feelings, even if after we've shot them off in a blog. I think it must be tough if that's all you see latinos and black as. i think it must be tough if all blacks and latinos see white people as bad too. There is a big world out there, with the races we see day to day not behaving in the negative stereotypes we see everyday. I think people would be shocked. I have travelled a lot and that's the only way I can say that, but I know it's difficult to believe that if thats your day to day experience. Its a much bigger issue than I can ever go into here, like history and economics but we can all make a difference bit by bit. I'm willing to bet that your extended mexican family have suffered some pretty bad racism in their lives and when you suffer that it can make you defensive. It's up to them to one day realise that not all white people will treat them that way, but if that has been their day to day experience, it will take something to change that. Why don't you be the person to change their perception? The person who does the right thing always has the most power. If they don't respond positively at first, be patient and keep trying. If you feel you have tried the best and as long as you can, you can walk away with head held high.

I want to tell everyone that racism is not just for non whites when I was in school the black and mexican girls talked shit to me because I'm very pale and skinny one day I was sick of it so i put baby oil all over my body and sat in the sun to get tan well I got almost 3rd degree burns I had to be hospitalized and my skin was peeling off in sheets I could'nt even walk I remember crying in the shower because the water would get stuck in the sheets of the skin that were coming off and I had to pat the skin down and push the water out of it thank god I don't any scars from that but I have to wear sunscreen all the time and I keep getting skin cancer in my moles so they have to keep getting cut out so yea it works both ways and yes juan I'm positive that soon I will get skin cancer and die you will get your wish.
