From handsome also-ran to American Idol champion.
Kris Allen completed an incredible journey this week by being named the eighth-ever winner of the most popular show on television.
Overlooked when the competition began - at the outset, Simon Cowell even suggested that Allen should keep his marriage a secret because he would only advance based on his looks - Allen shed his underdog label and overcame Adam Lambert in a tightly-contested finale.
What was Allen's reaction upon winning? He said: "Adam deserves this. I'm sorry." Class act (and we agree!).
Will Kris follow in the successful footsteps of past victors such as Carrie Underwood? Or the anonymous footsteps of champs such as Reuben Studdard?
Only time will tell. For now, let's just wish a hearty congratulations to one of the most unexpected winners in show history!

Were people informed of the winner earlier? Because there's a post or article about Kris winning Idol, which was posted at 8:20pm or around there.
I'm confused?
And as for the winner, it certainly shocked me. Don't get me wrong, Kris is a hell of a singer, but Adam's voice is so edgy, so fresh and intriguing. I personally thought Adam deserved it, but we shouldn't forget to congratulate Kris. I think the judges were in shock, but clearly more people though Kris should win. But look at it this way - Adam will have an amazziinnggg career ahead of him.

Kris Allen sucks! Adam deserved to win. he has more talent in his little finger then kris allen has in his entire body. america really fucked this up. if it weren't for the damn bible belt Adam would be the ameircan idol. damn prejudice.

Once again the contestant that tweens want to win wins. This is why this show sucks. If Lambert won at least everyone could say the person who deserved to win won because they had the most talent. Hell, even Kris at the end of the show said “Adam deserves this.” But in the end its better for Lambert. He’ll have record companies lined up at his door and involved in a bidding war, and “Idol” will get stuck with Kris singing a crappy “No boundaries” song and once again the producers will be pissed, why? Because all the tweens who voted for Kris, and all the people who voted for Kris simply because they didn’t want the person who should have won win (Adam) will not end up buying Kris’ album, and so Lambert will go on to make his new record company millions, and “Idol” will get stuck with Kris and “No boundaries.” And next year it will happen again, which is why this is officially my last year watching this show, and it should be yours. And yes, the Christian vote did play a role, with Kris and Gokey both church going boys, how could it have not?

I'm not surprised by the outcome, but definitely not happy with it. Adam is by far the most accomplished, intriguing,and talented person who has been on the show in a long time - the full package. I thought Kris should have been voted off several weeks ago...he just does nothing for me in terms of talent or star quality. In a couple of years we will be saying, "Kris, who?" while Adam will be enjoying a full and rich career.

We LIKE Kris' style and don't CARE to see a Queen revival...move on, or get off the planet, cuz thats the way things are here-its called PROGRESSION! Why do you think Carrie Underwoord, Kelly Clarkson and Cook and Daughtry are so popular? MAINSTREAM BABY! We like it!!!

If AI was based all on the tween vote then Cook wouldn't have won last year. My little girl cried when Archie didn't win. I on the other hand was glad. I think that Adam and Kris are both talented but obviously so different. In the end only one wins the title. My little girl cried this year too. She liked Adam because she thinks he looks like a Jonas Brother...How funny is that????? LOL
