Former Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari has been rumored for weeks to be replacing Lauren Conrad, her former high school rival, on MTV's The Hills.
Well, now it's a done deal!
Cavallari will indeed be starring in the faux-reality series, with her first appearance on the show also being Conrad's last - the May 31 season finale.
Kristin will be shown catching the bouquet at the wedding of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt (she introduced the gruesome twosome years ago).
She'll appear in 10 episodes this fall. The 22-year-old budding actress is fully prepared to stir things up, too: “It’s a TV show,” Kristin Cavallari explains.
“I’m not going into it like, ‘I’m going to make great friendships with these people.’ It’s work! Drama sells. I think that’s why they’re bringing me in.”
Kristin shared more insight with Entertainment Weekly on her return to reality TV. We've printed some excerpts below, with more after the jump.
On why she’s coming back: “My goal is to get fans excited about me again. When I first started out, I had a celebrity name but I didn’t have the acting skills I have now. If I have some buzz with my name again, I feel like it will only help.”
On rumors of a planned romance between herself and Justin-Bobby (which The Hills producers deny): “I have no idea! [laughs] I don’t think MTV would be like, ‘Oh you’re dating him now. This is your boyfriend.'"
"But they might try and set up certain encounters and situations. I’m totally cool with that. Again, it’s a TV show. They need to make it entertaining.”
On introducing Heidi and Spencer: “It’s so funny. I guess it was four years ago. I was dating Brody Jenner and Spencer was Brody’s best friend. I had known Heidi when she was friends with Lauren when we were still filming Laguna Beach."
"Heidi was like, ‘Hook me up with someone. I wanna meet a guy.’ And Brody and I were kinda like, ‘Well, maybe Spencer?’ We’ll see what happens.’ So we all went on a double date and they just hit it off right away and now they’re married.”
On how her version of The Hills will differ from Lauren Conrad’s: “I’m a completely different person. I have a lot more energy. I’m more outgoing. I’m a little more spontaneous. And she has a boyfriend so she’s not dating on the show.”

Kristin needs to stop being like LC. Always trying to be something she is not. The Hills will never be the same without LC. I think Kirstin is better off being on the Bad Girls Club than the Hills.

The hills is ment to be a show that is based on real life situations not a fake set up. The NEW QUEEN BITCH WHO THINK SHE IS GOING TO STEAL THE SHOW AKA KRISTIN IS GOING TO SUCK TRYING TO BE LC. Nowun can be LC she iss just herself. IM SOO NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THESE NEW SERIES. ITS GOING TO SUCK. ADAM DIVELLO IS SO NOT COOL FOR DOING THIS.

I'm actually really excited for this. I mean its not like they're kicking off Lauren and replacing her with Kristen. I think its very clever that they're doing this. It's history repeating, Kristen took over the reins for Lauren in Laguna Beach. I'm excited for this new season. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather Lauren stay, but since she's not I think Kristen is the best to take over.

Can't Kristin do something else other than ALWAYS following in Lauren's footsteps? I'm sick of her! If it wasn't for Lauren and Laguna Beach, nobody would know who she is!

TEAM LC ALL THE WAY !
i'm a HUGE LC fan, and im a little bummed that she's leaving the hill's. Maybe Kristin coming on the hills will bring a little (or a lot) more drama to the show, but it supposed to be REALITY - how can it be a reality show when shes not friends with any of the other castmates? i dont think anyway can replace lauren on the hill's: i mean the hill's IS lauren, without her it's a entirely different show. i will still watch to keep up with audrina, lo and stephanie, but i will miss lauren. Kristin can try to "replace" LC, but she has some realllyyy big shoes to fill, and i dont think the hill's will ever be the same without lauren.

I think its great that kristin will be replacing her cuz i'd rather have her then somebody else. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE LAUREN! She's awesome but also boring at times while Kristin heats up the place. Ugh i'm gonna miss Lauren though. Its so funny how Kristin is taking lauren's footsteps. First it was laguna beach and now the hills? Oh god, she must really love Lauren that much then.
