American Idol: A Thrilling Threesome

Adam Lambert who?!?

Okay, Kris Allen's incredible performance of "Heartless" didn't make us forget about this season's American Idol favorite, but it did cause us to single out a different contestant than usual as our favorite this week.

Following a rendition of One Republic’s “Apologize” that Kara and Randy didn't love (even though they chose it for him), Kris blew the panel away with his take on Kanye West's single.

Jackson thought Allen's version was better than the original, DioGuardi called it “bold, brave, fearless" and Simon said:  “I had written you out [out of the competition]. That, however, has all changed.”

While Kris earned the top performance of the night, Lambert and Danny Gokey didn't disappoint. Here's a rundown of their evening:

- Cowell got special permission for Lambert to sing U2’s “One." As you'd expect, Adam knocked it out of the park, alternating from eerily quiet to impressively loud. Simon said it was “brilliant,” while Paula pretty much crowned him the season’s winner.

Up next? Aerosmith’s “Cryin,” a perfect choice. Kara summed it up simply: “We’ll see you at the finals." Listen to this rendition NOW.

- We didn't love Paula assignment of the Terence Trent D’Arby hit “Dance Little Sister" for Gokey. Neither did the judges, as it didn't receive rave reviews.

But Danny’s own selection of Joe Cocker’s “You Are So Beautiful” earned him high praise from Simon. He referred to the performance as “a vocal master class.”

I may be in the minority (at leat for those who read this crap on the internet) but I thought Kris' Heartless was totally forgettable. I think the song itself is terrible. I thought Danny's pick and rendition of J.C.'s You Are So Beautiful was the hit of the night. Adam's songs were good but even more screechy then normal. Danny's husky voice and falsetto control were perfect. He is going to surprise most of the hapless folks on here and come in second tonight.

Weird night. Wasn't overly please with Adam's stylings on these two particular songs, but I liked Crying better than One. Danny was very, very good on the Joe Cocker piece and sucked at the Dance Little Sister.

Wait, did I hear that right? Kris was doing a Kanye West song? I'm sorry, I do not see what all the hub-bub was all about. He took a very good HipHop song and squeezed a folksy ballad out of it? For God's sake, leave HipHop to HipHop artists. Kris was better than Kanye? Stop the ride...I need to get off and regurgitate.

Adam is still my favorite because I have to take into consideration the whole season and he has consistently shown us he is not only the most talented but has the biggest chance to me a successful recording artist, internationally, not just here in the U.S.

"While Kris earned the top performance of the night...." Where you watching??? Kris was not all that good. I like the guy, but both songs fell flat for me. Danny did a really nice job on - You are so beautiful- but Adam still killed!!!! Adam may "screech" like some say - but the kid can sing. He could step in any of the big rock bands right now and do just as good job if not better as their own singers. And why does everyone think he is gay??? I totaly don't get that wibe from him. He does look a "bit strange" for a guy - but gay - i don't see it. In any case - even if he is - who cares? He can sing!

Before the show, I just prayed to GOD to let them all sing their best and ask GOD to let the most deserving win.
Because talent, charisma, artistry, stage presence, sex appeal, magnetism, IT Factor and all over excellence and the ability to give joy, to thrill, to excite and to electrify the audience are all GOD given gifts and blessings.
So, I leave it all in GOD's Hands that this AI show to deliver what is fair and what is just according to GOD's Will.
May GOD bless us all with His Gift of the whole package to entertain us in this global depression and crown the deserving as The AI. Amen
